Think of this as a reverse TheListo-facts thread. We're done with him, finally. Keep in mind he is no Molopoy. He had good intentions. Lag, however, was a bigtime jerk. I shall miss Listo, not as an admin, but as a member, as a person. That said, shall we? Ouch. So, wait, I'm splitting the staff? People are taking sides? Which sides? I can only see one person on the other side. Subtle threat is subtle. Yeah, we'll TOTALLY fall for that one. Cause, you know, the one person that has access to the security logs can't POSSIBLY lie about them! Forget the fact that it would be completely impossible for them not to be on there! Overall, Lag made exactly 5 posts. 5. You go, Fox. Anyway, this thread is partly for historically recording this event, partly for quoting this 5-post failure of a dictator.

Me: "Why did you choose this friend of yours?" Listo: "Because, he's loyal" Me: "To whom?" Listo: "Me"
Those are almost exact quotes (from memory). That is why I didn't like lag.

So Lag can't punish us for being awesome any more? Excellent. Time to throw a party about the end of the Dictator, methinks. o3o

And even more awesome, Veers is Forum Owner! Yay, Veers! Veers is nice.

Plus, the forum owner no longer has supreme power, which was essentially the problem with Listo. He thought of the forum a bit as a plaything, inserting whatever codes he wants and deleting whatever threads he wants without anyone's approval, no matter the lag that came as a result (nice pun).

Note 1: Am I power hungry? Have I not been suggested as one of the best alternatives to host the backup forum? Do I actively try to advance my position rather than waiting for people to promote me or request my promotion?
Note 2: Didn't ProBoards give us the green light? (Hint: Yes, so long as we kept the ads up, which we did.)
Note 3a: Godwin's Law
Note 3b: I consider comparisons to Hitler either as neutral or as a compliment. In this case, a compliment, although I must admit that I did not act too much like Hitler to deserve the compliment... *Insert sad emoticon here...*
Note 4: If I am such an incompetent fool, how come people respect me, how come I have power, and how come the administrators (myself included) have taken measures to prevent tyranny?
Note 5: There's the insult! [sarcasm]It is quite a shame it isn't true...[/sarcasm]

Ooh! I forgot to screen it! He sent one to Veers, too. Also, Proboards DID give us the green light. Here. He was too lazy to even rephrase it when he copied and pasted it to me.

Wait! Does that means proboards have regular backups of the forums? If so we can get back the 2 lost element thread there on the archive just before the thread is deleted

Eh, I don't think they would give it to us. They have their staff rules. I think they only break out the backups if the servers go down.

This kinda makes me want to talk to Lag and mock him for his fascist internet regimes. That would be fun.

He's no doubt moved on by now. He has his personal life to worry about.
As to Lag, he didn't even know us long enough to care.

Yeah, but being the king of a forum one minute, and having had all of your claim to fame deleted the next must be a bit of an embuggerance...

what does chatango has to do with the forums? lame excuse.

He means the neutral discussion grounds of this forum, situated on Chatango. On a different note, Lag has at least taught me to complain like an admin:
'I am beginning to believe that your part in this site is one that you are not quite ready to handle, and just punishments shall apply. Now I have made it absolutely clear that that piece of information is in no way acceptable, your persistance shall be taken as brazen disobediance and I shall be forced to act... Stick by your misled perceptions of this if you wish, but the fact remains; any more 'displays' and I am most certainly going to hit down on you like a hammer.'
That was me on a site I am an admin of threatening a persom posting sensitive information. I had to try very hard to resist quoting Lag directly.

Actually, Chatango is a commonly used censor here. A bit of an inside joke from back when Listo censored "Chatango" on chat to prevent advertisers, and it went down as a failure. Not nearly as bad as the time he censored completely random words as some sort of game so he could give out massive amounts of dan-balls at random. What he really said is more profane.
Heh, that was you? It could have been a quote. At least there it was justified and you were really the admin.

Yeah. Unlike Lag, I like myself to be justified, not just troll people because they disagree with you.

Listo clearly didn't do a good enough job of warning Lag what he was walking into.

A bunch of mistrustful cynics who dislike newbs ruling the forum? Or just troll-haters?

Both, actually. A very 'politically' active forum, one that actually DOES care who the admin is and KNOWS that the setup is wrong. The politics that take place here are different than other places because we are here by choice, and we are all friends (Okay, not all). We have our own culture and system of government. However, unlike what Lag thought, the admin is not indestructible.

During a PC conversation with Lag.
Lag:Vertigo, you can have the honor of making the new 'Request an Element' thread.
I ended up making the thread, in case this back up failed, but the point is, he tried to buy me.
As I said on chat: YOU CAN'T BUY VERTIGO
Unless..

More evidence he had no idea who he was dealing with. He doesn't get to hand out the 'honor' of replacing a thread. The element keeper does that.

The important thing to do now is further prevent such an incident to ever happen again. As said previously, absolute power has been reduced from the owner of the forum. This is one of the more wiser steps to a proper staff hierarchy.
You must realize that, even as TheListo had reached the end of his reign, you forget the past in which he was a proper leader. He was the one who had gotten us here today. Even with his... corruption so to speak, we most likely would not have reached such a point without his guidance.
Yet with his overall corruption and actions which many see as out of line, I understand how many would tend to forget those days.
