A standard DF succession game with a twist: the world is generated at Year 2. This means we will be quite literally the first group of dwarves to venture out to strike fresh soil and build a fort. Civilizations will be sparse, megabeasts rampant, and we will see the passing of many future legendary dwarven figures. To apply for a turn, post here and I'll add you to the list. Note: once you pass the fortress on, feel free to give a dwarf a nickname to represent yourself, and build him an elaborate tomb or monument. When your turn is up, zip up the save, upload it, and post a log of your events here, and post the download link for anyone to download. Note that if a turn is reserved, only their save will be canon unless they run out of time or cancel. Roleplaying your log is recommended, but is not necessary. Screenshots are strongly encouraged. Current Reservations: - Monokr0me
- Nullspeaker
- QwertyuiopThePie
- Memzak
Rules for play- 1 year of play. Start at Granite 1st, end at Granite 1st. Overrunning your turn will invalidate your save.
- You have 2 irl days to complete your turn before it is invalidated. Special cases can be made to extend a turn a couple of days, but only if you ask beforehand.
I will edit this post with my log as soon as I finish my turn.

Where are we embarking? Sign me up for a slot and a dorfing.
EDIT: Never done a succession game. Does the game automatically pause on Granite 1?

It should, but passing over a couple of days shouldn't be a problem.

Again, where are we embarking? A superhappyfunbeach? A nice, easy location? A terrifying glacier?

Heh, anything too hard and it might not last long enough for the next player to receive it... (although this all really depends on how good the first player is. Heh.)

Just a general, no-nonsense embark. River, no aquifer, very flat. Also, sorry about the delay on getting the save up, I've been feeling sick the past few days and haven't got around to playing. Although, I must say the locals are very hostile.

Year Three of the Ageless realm has concluded. During this period, a mighty fortress began (hopefully), beginning the path of greatness for the dwarves.
Upon arrival, the group was attacked by a swarm of Owl Men. We lost all our dogs in the attack, but the dwarves fended them off. After this, it was decided to dig straight down to begin the fortress, as the area was almost entirely flat, surrounded by hills on the map edges. Fortress construction continued. A large concern was defense, as we were in the middle of a valley. For protection, a moat was dug around the fort's entrance. A wall was beginning formation for additional security, but a dwarf entered a fey mood and caused a stir as forges were set up to accomodate for his need of metal bars. Luckily, we succeeded, and ended up with a legendary craftsdwarf and an artifact. Here is the fortress as I leave it:

Having just come from Failcannon, that was an incredibly short post, but I guess it's unreasonable to expect us all to have awesome narration.

Sorry, I was thinking about narrating, but I had a lot of homework to catch up on and wanted to keep the game moving. Maybe next time.

Null doesn't have a forum account, so I'll post the log he put in the save.

I'll post what I have so far.
Lots of room to work with, yay. I think I have a good chance to do som- MAGPIE FAMILY KILL THE LOT ...Anyway. My main goal this round will be the creation of a proper siege entrance for the elves when they do inevitably come. Cage traps, then regular traps, then maybe some lava if I have room. Dear god what is taking so long? Someone's missing the point, I think. First order of business is to prep an exploratory shaft to find the caverns, the magma, etc. Unless... DANGIT PREVIOUS OVERSEER WHY YOU NO MAKE DRINKYDRINK. Phase 1 of "Operation Elfslaughter" is complete... sort of. I found a cavern, but not the right one. In the meantime, cabinets. Dorfs want 'em, I've got 'em. Onto the Operation Elfdeath progress. I've reached the second cavern. Third should be breached anytime now. Some random engraver is doing all of the mining for it instead of our actual miners, but no matter. At least if we breach the lava from the wrong side there'll be no loss, ha ha. Seriously though, the guy is expendable. Having no idea whatsoever where the front gate's lever is, I'm making a new lever room. I'll stick it here. Damn. Close the gates! The gate! Whatever! Where's that lever? Bah, too late. Pop's up to 55 now, and I bet they expect us to take care of them. Minor incident. Goblin snatcher. Naturally I sent the existing military to attack it. It proceeded to slice open her left foot. We don't have a hospital. I'll throw an inpromptu one up in a stockpile somewhere. I get the feeling something is gradually going horribly wrong with the system set up to mist up our statue garden. Is the water on the second floor SUPPOSED to be up to 6 height? I'm walling it off, while I still ca- oh. I can't. Great. Yep, they suspended it. It's too late. Water is flooding the bottom half of the fortress. Again. Whatever, maybe it'll run out or something. I don't see anywhere it could be getting in from the river, but apparently it is somehow. Not much I can do in the way of containment but wall the areas off and hope the basement isn't too flooded. In the process drowning anyone incapable of escaping the horrors of the current flooded statue garden, I might add. DANGIT NOW IT'S FLOODING PROJECT ELFMURDER AND THE CANNON FODDER DIGGING IT I hate you, former overseer. I hate you with a passion. I'm open to ideas at this point. EDIT: Gonna have to drop the map, I'm afraid. I didn't do much, and I barely got through Granite. Just skip to Memzak. Maybe when I don't have so much to do or when the fortress isn't flooding from two sources you can come back to me.

Not to seem like a kill-joy but I won't be able to complete my turn just yet, so anyone else who wants to go in the mean time... go for it, I'll pick it up again when school decides to stop stealing all my time.
