On creative or on SMP?
On creative yes, on SMP no.

In Alpha Creative, which is probably the way we'll be building this.

Could you make a Courtyard of rockets?

Why? Aw heck, why not?
Do we have a dedicated server for it or must we find one? Because if you need a server I'm an admin on altair clouds and I can create an empty world just for our city! (and perhaps add a portal from the central hub world to it so I don't always have to be there to boot it)
So?

I have a server I can make dedicated. It would be locked to people but unlocked in places with a specific, defined plan (It eliminates the possibility of griefers outside their own projects).

Will it lag? That is my main concern. As lag is a killer.
Because Altair clouds doesn't lag at all. (and I could make the portal hidden so that only people here know where to find it)

It doesn't lag for me, but I dunno about others. We need a server entirely under our control, not a world on Altair Clouds. It certainly needs cuboid-style protection so we can unprotect specific areas to specific people. We need to be able to install mods at will.

Post by ~Memzak~ on Nov 16, 2010 5:45:35 GMT
What's the Server Name/Url? Someone should test out weather it lags for them or not.
As for cuboid-style protection... we could always go with icraft. They can protect certain areas to certain members. (in the same fashion as cuboid, and I could teach all you guys the other cool commands like portals...)

icraft? Pfft, you don't need to teach us about custom clients. I bought JTE's client before it was cool, and I was running an MCSharp server for quite awhile.
Of course, considering this is creative and not Alpha and I'm rather out of practice, I guess icraft will have to do, although we shouldn't rely on portals considering this should be a fully compatible map.

|
|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Nov 16, 2010 7:14:24 GMT
-.- The portals are server-side NOT client side, so it is compatible with any client.
And there are a lot of useful icraft commands. (like copy and paste or bcb) Anyways, what's the server URL? Or when will it be up?

|
Post by QwertyuiopThePie on Nov 16, 2010 14:39:36 GMT
When did I say they were client-side? Of course they are server-side.
...Wait, did I say custom clients? My bad, I meant custom servers. Anyway, icraft is only one of many custom servers, and we certainly don't need you to teach us the commands.

A comma and then saying and?! Who teaches you english mr. pie? You want to figure out iCraft yourselves? Ok. iCraft is one of the many custom servers. I have had experience with iCraft, MCsharp and WoM. (many versions of MCsharp at that) I like iCraft best, but that is just me. What server software do you think we should use?

Oh stop being a grammar soviet.
I think icraft should suit us just fine if we can get the money to host a creative server somewhere. My computer is all full with my Alpha server, and IRL friends must come before the forums.

well is thee a possability that we could get this "server" up?

If we get money for it, yes. And find a good hosting service.

Or we could just use altair clouds... >.> <.<
Until we find a substitute, and then I can ask for the map and our progress and we can move to map to our own server, once we raise the money. How about that?

Post by QwertyuiopThePie on Nov 17, 2010 6:37:33 GMT
The map will almost certainly be of an incompatible filetype.
If Altair Clouds has a cuboid-protection-style command and all of the people that want to work on it can enter in a form of full control, and a select group of members (Probably the triumvirate, OMNI, and you) can use those cuboid protection controls, then it might work.

I'll have to get started on it when I get home. How large must the world be? Should it be a flatgrass map? Where should the spawn be?

Post by QwertyuiopThePie on Nov 17, 2010 14:37:14 GMT
I'm guessing very, very large, flatgrass, and a spawnpoint in the middle.

Ok, When I get home tomorrow I'll make it and then screenshot the secret pathway to the portal to it on the main hub.

Done! I've finished the world. Zones are working. (Basically building restricted areas) Portal working too. Also a secret path so that griefers don't find. Here's how to get to it.
Go to Altair Clouds. You will arrive at default. The central hub. Look around until you find this: Walk towards the orange and follow the iron path. Here's the portal you should arrive at. Go through it, turn around and you have a massive world to build on! Happy Building!

No, I said Hmm because of the pointlessness and pure rage I encountered during Altair Clouds. i was not a member there, and spent several hours making a fantastic underground lodge. Only to get a single god damn promotion. My name is gray for god's sake!
I'll show you if I ever meet oyu there.
