Qwerty, you obviously fail to see the mechanics of this thread. It helps me, and others like me, find interesting threads. The (T) keeps the program running.

Thus, why not just put it in your signature?

Well, I'm not following the T rule. I mean, really.

Nor am I. I'll put it in my signature at most. Isn't the announcement enough to support the program?

Wow, this just ruins the whole idea. Thanks guys...

The idea is to trade posts, not to stick a logo in every post you make. This is why we have signatures: We don't have to sign every post.

This sounds like an absolutely horrible idea. People read and respond to threads because they want to, not because they're obliged to. Implementing some kind of crazy posting referral honor system sucks the fun out of visiting an online forum for easygoing recreation.
Something I would like to mention as a solution would be a major board redo. As it is, we've got too many, I think. Fewer, broader boards can be simpler and help to drive attention to threads that won't be noticed otherwise. A forum I moderate went from like 15 down to 5 boards in a reorganization a few months ago and it did wonders for helping to spread activity around.

The problem is that then you have the issue of mixing. While we probably could eliminate all of the "Other Game" boards, and merge several of the General Talk boards (Eg, Stories and Art), where do we go from there?

If you don't like it, don't participate. GET OUT. GET OFF. GET GONE. This will help people like me find interesting threads. If you don't get it, then LEAVE THIS THREAD ALONE. I've had enough of you FLAMING my idea.

Ok, I won't participate. I expect this won't be too popular, after the huge argument. I mean, where are all the threads? Really, the old system works far better. I mean the interesting threads don't die quickly, and we're not big enough for this to be necessary yet.

Post by Qwerty on Jun 3, 2010 3:57:39 GMT
Whenever we do get big enough, we'd need some kind of requirement for entry. Probably one thread per 50 posts.

1. This forum is so small, that each time I log on I read EVERY SINGLE POST that was made since last time. It takes about 2 minutes. Why on earth do you think threads need advertising when you can count the number of active threads on one hand?
2. If a thread is boring, then it doesn't DESERVE to be posted in. 'Post Trading' means people no longer try to create good threads, because they know that even a bad thread can get posts through 'Post Trading'. So congrats, you have just killed any incentive to create quality threads,

I don't think so. We're trying to promote activity on this forum, and your approach doesn't help. Furthermore, if its about the forum, its important, and this is about the forum. Oh, and this is trolling. +10% Warning. --FoxtrotZero Fox don't be a dou che. This is a bad idea. Just because he takes a different stand than you doesn't mean you should warn him for it. That wasn't even close to trolling. So anyway, threads die because people lose interest in them. It's not like people don't ever see them. Also, I agree with everything Pir8ozzy said.

Exactly. I post on the interesting threads. Not all threads so people post on mine.

You guys obviously do not understand the point of this. So thank you for killing my idea. I hope it makes you happy to know that you have acted like ignorant people and bludgeoned to death a good idea because you didn't take the time to consider it.

I hope it makes you happy to know that you have acted like ignorant people and bludgeoned to death a good idea because you didn't take the time to consider it. That was uncalled for, everyone was being perfectly reasonable. Calling people ignorant just for disagreeing with you is the behaviour of an internet troll. I gave you two excellent reasons why your system is ineffective, which proves that I considered your idea. You haven't made any attempt to answer either of my perfectly valid points, and then you have the audacity to call us ignorant. You lost an argument, it happens. Its not the end of the world, and it is certainly no reason to call people ignorant.

Your reasons, pir8ozzy, were based off of false assumptions about my system. None of you took the time to fully consider all of the factors in play, including the predominantly considerate community we are in. I was not trolling, you guys were. I have lost this argument, because there is no external judge. The verdict is delivered by popular opinion which is misguided in its thinking.

I have lost this argument, because there is no external judge. The verdict is delivered by popular opinion which is misguided in its thinking. What false assumptions? I see that you have failed to state what those false assumptions were. Perhaps that is because they didn't exist in the first place. It appears you are throwing around these accusations in an attempt to save your sinking boat of an argument. I must emphasise that, even including your last post, nothing you have said can counter my first point; That still remains a primary reason why your idea was bad in the first place. It is perfectly logical, and until you can counter that point you have no grounds to say that your idea was good. And as to your accusations of trolling, it seems that you hardly understand what the term means. To present a counter-argument in a reasonable manner, as we have all done, is not trolling. It is called 'having an opinion'. However to call people ignorant when they disagree with you, without any prior insults from the other side, it without a doubt trolling. It is behaviour more suited to 4chan rather than a forum. I find it amusing that you think you haven't lost this argument, despite your inability to convince anyone that you are right, despite the rejection of multiple members of staff, and despite that you commited the desperate act of insulting the other side.

*facepalms* *palmfaces*
This was a good idea until someone disagreed, someone called the disagreer a troller and gave them a warning, the aforemention disagreer complained, when people left because of all the complaints, another disagreer gave logical reasons to disagree, the aforementioned someone who called the first disagreer a troller called the second one a troller, causing the entire thread to erupt in a rather trolly battle.
In other words, the entire thread has been dominated by a massive argument.
And thus, I doubt this idea will ever take off because of the massive controversy.
