why cant there be infinate dots?

Infinite dots would render some older computers incapable of running powder game as it would be too taxing on the system. (In other words older computers may lag too much o.o)

I'm afraid it is a matter partly of programming capabilities, and also of lag. It would be practically impossible to do so in the current system without MASSIVE reprogramming, and even then it would mean a game at one frame every ten seconds.

One frame every ten seconds? Are you sure you didn't mean 10 fps?

One frame every ten seconds? Are you sure you didn't mean 10 fps? I think he may actually have meant 0.1 FPS. Surprisingly enough, some games do lag that much. I remember one internet game called 'battleships forever', which could slow down to 2 frames per minute during the laggiest matches. Now that is bad.

I never thought that kinda lag existed... o.O 10 fps is still very slow for PG.

Once, I got PG down to 2 fps, or something like that.

By my calculations, the play area supports 120,000 dots. That's alot of computing to do.

AKA your one multiplication problem xp And yeah, like everyone said, It would megalag

We need to make a computer specifically for the purpose of running a powder game. We would code it in ML and the computer would literally be wired to best support a powder game. You could have a giant screen area and as many birds as you would like! LOL

It was 0.1 fps, not 10 fps. 10 fps is ten frames per second, I mean ten seconds per frame.

That lag is almost as fail as the 5-post-dictator... And we have just had a lag reduction update!

That is why we don't do this. I agree, if it were feasible it would be absolutely epic.

technically that's not infinite dots as the play area is finite even if it is in full screen

What if it is an infinite play screen?

it would still be confined to your computer screen

i put all birds on to see how slow it could get

it would still be confined to your computer screen It could be bigger and you scroll by moving your mouse.

it would still be confined to your computer screen It could be bigger and you scroll by moving your mouse. That's way too troublesome.

Agreed. By Far.
I like the system the way it is though. Its enough for me.

I was considering something similar to "World of Text", but I agree, that would be too complex.

What we have is good enough. Agreed, though, limited dots did make my map uploads a lot harder. But if I still got about 1500 votes, it proves that we have enough dots.

Even if you tried using a hack tool (i.e. Cheat Engine) to get infinite dots, Powder Game will freeze in place once passing the max dot limit. Most likely because the game is not programmed to function with more dots than the limit provided. I know this from personal tests.

Yes, we have mentioned this. It is a thing with the programming. Or maybe he just wants to cheat cheaters, like in SR.

Its no question of programming (unless you count changing 40000 to 120000): Those are (neraly) 80k dots, indicated by the -53000 dots and the DOT S (still 20k) and of course the massive amount of dots in the screen...

And we don't want Lag. We just had a lot of lag removed... EDIT: I just realised how true this is for both the forum and Powder Game...

I would even be happy with 50.000 dots.
