As you can very well see at this point, Stick Ranger is getting closer and closer to the date in which it will surpass Powder Game in the amount of updates it has been given. When do you think the estimated date is and what exactly do you expect to happen at this occurrence? Discuss your thoughts and ideas here.

We aren't falling behind. They are catching up. There's a difference.

Qwerty's right. But either way, the day the mediocre Stick Ranger catches up with the mighty, glorious Powder Game, will be an incomprehensibly sorrowful, shameful day indeed.

Well, if the update pattern continues as is, Powder Game will begin to "fall behind..."

That would be horrible.

there isnt anything you can do about it unless you want to try to be a programmer for PG.

To be honest, I don't see what is bad with Stick Ranger. As long as both SR and PG stay equivalent in popularity, I see no problem. Of course, we all want more updates for PG.

there isnt anything you can do about it unless you want to try to be a programmer for PG. Had I ever mentioned anything about attempting to fix this? I created this thread as to give your views on the matter, not how we could "do anything about it."

i like both, I loved pg and hated sr at first, but now im leaning barely more towards sr; the only reason why is that sr is updated more and I like all the updates as opposed to pg (some of the balls, some bgs etc,) whenever a new element thats good (like mercury) comes out my interest peaks

Post by Qwerty on Jun 9, 2010 22:40:53 GMT
Well, the balls are sorta like elements in themselves.
Anyway, we should change the title to "May Soon Be Falling Behind".
My guess is there's a chance the updates will even out once they catch up.

Yes! we must have more PG updates! We cannot let it fall behind SR! /PG player Who cares about PG? SR is much better and popular! /SR player
Hmm... Of course, the above (fiction) quotes are very biased towards one game because their owner only has eyes for the game they play. We must not let our selves fall into this trap. We are about the entire Dan-Ball Empire. (I just had to call it that.) Certainly, we can have favourite games, but completely shunning other games? No thanks.

We have three versions left. The "SR is more popular argument" can easily be overturned simply by looking at the comment boards.
SR updates are smaller and easier to do, which is likely a reason SR gets more updates. It would be fair just to call each SR update a .03, instead of a .1.

Obviously, some people have never heard of Flash games. HELLO, there are WAY better games than SR. The only reason Dan-Ball is popular is because of the unique Powder Game. I like SR, except there are WAY better games out there of a similar ilk. Powder Game is special because it is one of a kind.

Not really. What about Powder Toy, or the FSGs? I know OEcake is more like Liquid Webtoy, but still.
On the other hand, SR seems to have a unique style of gameplay. You don't actually attack directly, you just command around these four people.

Powder Game has lost my intrest ever since noob uploads have peaked. I wish Qwerty and not doppler would stop advertising and giving links. I want a game full of smart people. Not complete incapable morons.

...What?
Oh, so you want the PG community to die off due to lack of advertising. Well, I don't really advertise outside the comment boards, with the exception of the JayIsGames review.

Assuming the upload schedule doesn't change. That's a lot to assume.

No Qwert, I just want it so only a handful of good uploaders are uploading and that PG was updpated more. And that if we're advertised. Only rarely. That way only about 80 or so good uploaders were here. Then we'd have good space.
I'm actually planning on uploading a unique upload soon on PG. First time in ages.

So essentially you want all the community to die out but the good ones? This isn't selective. Advertising attracts good and bad ones alike. Likewise, both good and bad ones leave, mostly good ones because they can't stand the bad ones. Besides, if most of the community dies Ha55ii won't bother updating the game.

Not really, It's been like this forever. A long time. I remember when PG was updated as much as PG. Then SR came out. It was like. Hey this is kinda cool. If it wasn't for the updates. I'd love SR.

SR updates are just so much easier to make. Really, I could probably do it. You just change some colors and numbers, maybe make something bigger, and bam.

Yep, all you really have to do it make new bad guys by combining what you already have (heads and bodies) or occasionally make a new one to add to the set. Use preset level tiles, and edit the gold and onigiri drops...
Although, that grim day (first post of thread) is coming ever closer....

After a PG update 3 or 2 SR updates follow. And now that PG 7.5 has been sustituted by EE 1.8 (or maybe i have been counting wrong, when did BG-Dark came?) SR will soon be at 7.3.

I personally don't mind it... I mean, when we got a SR update, we look at what we got, and maybe grab some New weapons or Combo items, or beat new maps, and maybe upload a team, then we went back on PG. That only took we about two or threes days. So freqent update is acceptable.
But for PG, everytime we got something new, we can spent weeks experimenting about them, and with all these elemnts already, it would take some time to program something new, and we also need more time to play with them.
