"Sure," Warp said cheerfully, "I'd love to!" Meanwhile, I was moving my index finger back and forth across my neck with a dead expression on my face to represent "bad idea" behind him. I've always found myself annoyed by this guy, mainly 'cause he's just so happy or calm all the time!

"Oh? Have I not told you guys? Yeah, I can also control darkness. Turns out I got a birth defect." Paradox waved this off casually, as if it were just a 'by the way' thing. "And yes, my brother can indeed heal, but-" "It takes a lot out of me. If I were to-" "Use it a whole bunch of times, he would probably-" "Collapse from exhaustion from the stress of it all, just like-" "My power of Death and how it requires-" "So much energy to maintain." The two spoke taking turns, not even seeming to notice.

(OOC: Actually, I've decided to have Warp instead have a calm and cunning personality. He's the "cool" one.)
"I have no idea what you're talking about," said Paradox and Warp in unison. Of course, they didn't notice. "Now, about that book," Warp stated, "I believe I can help." He took hold of the book from Paradox, receiving a Death glare (not really), and concentrated. Slowly, his hair rose up and a white aura surrounded Warp, channeling into the book. The symmetrical black designs on the cover began to glow a bright white, before suddenly it faded into a faintly luminescent gray. "That book requires two opposite properties for it to be unlocked, and its secrets too." To demonstrate, Warp opened the book, showing an eternity of equations and facts that actually seemed to be three-dimensional, with it's depths endless, full of knowledge long passed. Paradox stared in awe before he realized what he was doing, snapping out of it and grumbling something about how Warp thought he was so cool. He took the book, and looked into it. "I can't make heads or tails of this," he said, "especially when there's so much text." "Ugh, you can really be thick sometimes, brother. You need to actually think of a subject before it will tell you about it." Veins began to pop up on Paradox's head.
"So, I'm going to leave you two to sort out how this book works. Warp has a better idea about that I do. I'll go check on Thor and then get some training done. We leave tomorrow morning, that should be enough time." I said.
I then thought to myself... 'Interesting book, I wonder what it does. Anyways, if shadow, life and light are in these elementals. That means there must be a certain concentration of them somewhere. If the dad was death, I'm guessing the mom was life.... but where did the light and dark come from? I'll have to find out soon enough...'

I found that as soon as I said a subject to the book, information about it would appear. After experimenting some (it even had info on me!), I put the book away.

Agreed. "I believe that there is the shadow elemental on this planet. How else would Paradox inherit shadow powers if there was no elemental energy of it on this planet anyways? We shall search for it. It's probably as mindless as the ice elemental, but dangerous altogether." I said.
"But I think we should all be at our best before we start." Said Yewa.
"You'll need to get Yewa and Warp to look at those if you want them to be completely healed." I said.
"I think that the group will need to split up for a bit. I'm going to go on a scouting mission on my own to try and find out the location of the Shadow elemental. Yewa and Warp will have to look after Thor and Lev. Paradox also has his book to figure out, but I would appreciate it if he came along."
I then gathered some energy in the ring and gathered some supplies to carry. I'll set out at dusk to conceal my presence. Even though Xexor XI is dead, we are still deep in his lands and many of his troops are alive. (and still loyal to him) The dusk soon approached as all the shadows slowly elongated.
'It's almost time...' I thought to myself.
It was then I sensed something, something deep within myself. It's intentions dark, darker than the blackest night. '...and when the time comes, all will burn.' He said, finishing my unfinished thought.

XD Nooo! No breaking the fourth wall! Yewa and Warp healed me, and after a while, I was healed completely. I decided I'd follow memzak when he left. "Memzak, I'm gonna follow you, OK?"

"Sure Lev, you can come along, it looks like Paradox shall stay here." I said.
I let Lev hop on my shoulder and left Yewa with Thor. Thor's bones were finally popped back into place, but only barely... He was in no condition to move, let alone fight. I took off with the wind and once high in the air I closed my eyes and tried scanning the area with the mind control gem, not to control minds, but just to read them.
Finally after about an hour in the air I hit my first mind and made contact through. It was an odd feeling, being in someones mind without anyone noticing. This must be the true power the the gem. Even the most heavily guarded mind could now fall (although it would take a much longer time to get through to a guarded mind) I've been in peoples minds before but never anything like this. I could go through memories without them reliving it, I could question them, get and answer and go on with my business and they wouldn't even notice.
After yet another two hours in the sky I finally got someone with information on a great beast of shadow outside of a city. Rumors were that whomever ventured into the dark forest was consumed by the shadows. I found out the location and then headed towards it. It was quite a distance away and it was getting dark, dark is the shadow's power. We landed outside the forest.
"We shall spend the night here Lev, but I know the location of the elemental. It's most powerful in the shadows so we'll wait for the dawn before we fight him." I said.
I fashioned a small wall around our small camp (using the stone gem) and barbed the walls with spikes. I then made a fire inside the camp that would last the night. We then ate two deer that I caught. (Lev not finishing the whole dear due to having a smaller stomach)
"Ahh, nothing like a campfire cooked meal." I said to Lev.
We then drifted to sleep.

Slowly in the shadows nearby, a large behemoth began to form. It was the darkest black that could possibly imagined, sucking in light like a black hole. It's large, malicious eyes were dyed a blood-red, with dangerously slitted black pupils. It had tendrils like an octopus, constantly writhing and twisting in and out of themselves, waiting for a target to strike. Suddenly, it noticed Lev. A tentacle shot out and grabbed him, quick as lightning. Before the young Boxer could protest, it dragged him down into the Shadow-Realm.

In the shadow-realm... "Mmmf!" Lev struggled at the strange aberration that had grabbed him and warped him to this strange dimension. It was dark. Lev activated his fire gloves, causing the area to become light, and the shadow elemental to cringe and let go. He then darted at the elemental and struck at it, and a hole opened up in it! The he realized it seemed unharmed. He tried again, and the hole opened up again. however, it opened up before it even hit. Dang. The aberration lashed at him, hitting him squarely in the jaw. Lev stumbled backwards as his head whipped upwards from the force of the creature's blow. Lev noticed he was getting tired... Strange... He hadn't fought for too long yet...

I woke up to a scream from the dark. It was suddenly cut off and disappeared completely. Lev was gone. I saw a strange shadow fluctuation on the wall from the fireplace. Must have been my imagination.
I lowered the walls around the camp and looked around. Looks like the shadow elemental came for us instead of the other way around.
I used the binding ring to bind a stone turned to an obsidian shard from heat with writing engraved in it to a massive gust of wind form the wind gem. The shard took a form of a small glider with a slow and constant released from underneath it. (the bound wind) I sent it out to go to Yewa. It should inform them of our situation and how much longer until expected return. It won't show the writing to anyone but Yewa as I also binded her scale to it, so that no one else could read it.
I jumped up and circled once around the forest, it seems the forest grew for no reason other than to provide shadows. Around the forest there was nothing but a barren desert like area.
When I landed I decided that if the elemental's strength was in shadows, we'd have to get him out into the open to weaken him. I activated the earth and fire gem and drew as much heat and fire from the area I could with my right hand and as much dirt and rock as I could with the right hand. In the middle where the to elements touched I used the binding gem to bind them to each other, creating a large amount of liquid lava that spread out from the center to coat the edges of the camp with a moat of lava. I eventually managed to get all the lava in a large circular pool, 5 meters wide and 8 meters deep. I then used the stone and metal gem to move all the tiny particles of stone and metal to the outside of the lava and then raised it all up with the stone and earth gem. What resulted was a large bucket like rock with metal embeds which was filled with lava to the brim. After further modifications I added hinges for it to be held above the ground.
"There's enough lava in this bucket to burn your whole forest down, elemental. Give me Lev and I might think about sparring you a long and painful death." I said knowing very well that I must get Lev out of the forest before burning it down.

(OOC: Don't worry. I'm not godmodding here. I just have an idea... This'll turn out interesting. Please don't stop it, K?)
Lev warily stared at the aberration. It seemed to be troubled for a moment, then it fixed its attention back at Lev Lev charged at it screaming and blasted it with fire. It screeched and retaliated by enveloping Lev, strangling him in a tight choke with its tentacles. Lev pumped his fire gloves to full power. Lev felt stone cold in all but his arms, which flames licked up around. The shadow elemental couldn't avoid the blow, and it dissipated. His arms were severely burnt, and it looked like a layer of shadow was around him from the elemental's attack. The shadow gem popped into his hand. Lev collapsed to the ground from his wounds, and with the last shred of his strength, he focused on the gem.
Fifty yards away from Memzak, Lev appeared on the ground. His arms were burnt, a thin layer of shadow residue surrounded him, and the shadow gem appeared melded into his arm. "Augghhh... I think I found the shadow elemental..." Lev slowly got up.

I stared at the burnt Lev in awe. It was very clear, he had defeated the elemental and gotten the Gem from it. He had sustained some damage, but judging by the shadow around him, he has control over the gem.
"What happened to your arms and how did you best the elemental?" I asked.
His arms clearly needed healing. I decided that it was best that we start moving and burn the forest down, leaving its evil ashes to be spread in the wind. We can't let it spawn any lesser shadow elementals while we are gone.
"Come over here Lev, we need to get those wounds healed soon."
I hope Yewa got the message I sent her, she and the rest should be on their way soon.

Paradox soon ran into the clearing. "Guys! I heard what happened, and-" Paradox stopped abruptly. He took a look at Lev, and narrowed his eyes. He continued scowling for no apparent reason, and Warp soon continued, "and we came as quickly as possible. Yewa, if you wouldn't mind helping me heal young Lev, that'd be great." Although Warp didn't notice it, Paradox knew that something was definitely wrong here. Lev was giving off negative signs of energy, and evil signs at that. In a small fraction of his eye, the Boxer had a shard of red. And Paradox planned to find out why.
You forgot the closing italics tag. "Wow, you did get here fast. You must have left as soon as you got the message." I said.
"Yea, we did. Quite clever what you did with that message. I was wondering why you needed one of my scales before you left." Yewa replied while holding the little glider with the engraved message on it.
"Why'd you use obsidian though? You could have used just normal rock." She then said while tossing it to me.
I grabbed it and molded it back into a small obsidian pellet which I added to a little bag of them I had. "It was kind of personal preference. I like obsidian. It's also very sharp and good for cutting the wind as well as being black and stealthy during the night." I said.
I've managed to make three pellets for each person from scales and essences I collected before I left.
"What's with the lava?" Thor asked in his usual voice.
"It's good to have you back, and it's for burning this forsaken part of the forest. In fact, with Lev out, I think I should do it now." I said.
I then used the stone and fire gem to move the bucket with lava and pour it out over the forest, setting it alight. I then made a half a meter high wall surrounding the forest, so that the lava wouldn't spread. It's been done and the darkness in there is gone. Lev seemed ok, but something was off, I couldn't tell what. I'll let Warp and Yewa take a look at him first. Maybe it was just because he was injured.

"Holy crap! That thing's in my arm!" Lev attempted to pull it out or something, bur as soon as he touched it, a wave of wracking pain spread across him. "Ahk! You know what? Something... feels wrong. I'm still feeling the chill of shadow." Lev shuddered. "And it just feels like... It feels like... I don't know. Something just feels wrong." Oh well. Warp and Yewa looked after him and healed his arms, but the shadow they couldn't get off, and the gem, whenever they tried to get it out, would just send a wave of pain through Lev.
Later, dusk fell, and Lev fell asleep. He woke up in the middle in the night. He was feeling terrible. The chill was worse than ever, and- He saw the shadow elemental again! "No! Not you! Lev tried to punch it, but then he saw it wasn't there. All of a sudden, he had a massive headache. He felt the chill of the shadow grow to an unbearable level. Lev let out a scream of agony, then fell to the ground. he got up again, but his eyes were now that of the shadow elemental, and a large cloud of shadow rotated around him. The shadow gem looked like it had the opposite of a brilliant shine across it, casting shadow across his arm. He got up and moved out towards the middle of the camp.
Lev was trapped in himself. He couldn't do anything. He was just so helpless... He felt, saw, and heard everything, but he literally couldn't control himself. What was wrong?

When I went to bed, I made sure to listen out for anything that might happen while the others were asleep. Apparently, this was a good idea, as when I heard a twig snap, I immediately looked up, my mask's eyes glowing. I saw Lev, but at the same time, it wasn't Lev. It was much more malevolent, and was surrounded in shadow. Swearing, I immediately got up and prepared to fight. Argh, I shouldn't have let this happen. I know something would happen! Why didn't I do something?!
Nonetheless, I summoned my staff and dagger. I already had my necklace on. Before we fought, I tried to reason with him. "Lev, I know you're still there. Come on, fight it!" Apparently didn't cut it. So, it seemed I was about to face my uncle (*Gasp, plot twist*) in combat. Before he could attack, I quickly melted into the shadows and snuck up behind him. I attempted to bash his skull in with my white staff, but he dodged and flipped me over before I could react.

I was going to suggest the shadow element being your uncle, but I decided not to. (although now you did it so there is no need) XD, oh well... this is a plot twist, and I like it. Thor slept soundly, Yewa sleeping too. It seems the only one who awoke was I. I could have sworn I heard screaming. I looked around and saw Lev and Paradox gone. They camp seemed empty except for some moving shadows from the fire. I looked more carefully and saw that they were not from the fire, they were Lev and Paradox fighting!
It was what I feared, after the gem embed itself in Lev's arm, the life the the elemental was preserved in the gem. I thought it was perhaps the forest, so I burnt it all down, but the light shadow remained around Lev. I guess it was just waiting until it was strongest at night, to break out and take over Lev.
I took out a broadsword and engaged in combat with Lev, or the elemental rather. Having black scales was also an advantage except for the fact that shadows are darker than scales. Lev seemed able to block every blow form both Paradox and I.

I saw myself fight with Paradox and Memzak, dodging their every move. I saw shadow around me, and then I truly realized what had happened. The shadow elemental hadn't died. He'd taken me over. Ugh. I tried to shout, but no sound came out. I struggled against the elemental.
Shadow Lev began compacting some shadow to hit Memzak with, when all of a sudden one of his eyes changed back to regular form. He shouted "Get out! Aaugh!", and stopped movement for a while, struggling to move. His eye soon went back to red again, though.
Lev felt a wave of exhaustion, and stopped fighting for a moment. This was going to be far harder than expected.

I noticed Lev was about to hit me with some dark shadow energy but for some reason he stopped. I looked carefully and noticed, even if for just a moment, that one of Lev's eyes had turned back to normal. He was fighting back! It looks like all was against the elemental, it will eventually become tired out.
"Keep pushing forward, the elemental is weakening!" I said to Paradox.

Shadow Lev's gem grew darker, and Shadow Lev approached Paradox, although in a slightly less swift and agile manner now. He gathered shadow again, and struck at Paradox.
