It's not a brick wall, its the dan-ball logo, but without the square outline. I though it looked mice, so I just made it more fluent. See how there's no more noise around the border? Look: Noise is better, and that "logo" looks like a brick wall, don't deny it.

the new one is better, but the text has too much of a gradient like the other badges made by you, try making them just be white like the other ones. it looks a lot better

Okay, I'll fix that later.

What is noise?

|
|
Post by Rock on Apr 27, 2011 21:29:15 GMT
It's when an image is very rigid where it should be fluent.

That's pixelation. Noise is when an image has pixels that are of a random color or value. For example, the static on your TV is noise.

^Use that as the definition. I just couldn't find the right words...

^Use that as the definition. I just couldn't find the right words... No, you had the wrong term entirely, you meant it was aliased.

Well, then my art teacher is a dirty liar.

Aliased! That was the word I was looking for. It was aliased, not pixelated. Mah bad.

I want to challenge the judge badge: True, true, the judge badge looks wonderful already. However, I was a bit concerned because the badge does not reflect what it represents in any way, it just looks shiny. Sorry if I got the transparency thing wrong, I suck at this sort of thing.

I am sorry, but i think we're going to keep Swearingworth's badge.

SW's for sure on that. Also, I propose that each badge must get at least two nominations in this thread, not counting the maker, before a poll is made.

Well, I'm not sure a gavel would be an appropriate symbol. The Judge badge is for a contest judge, not a judicial judge. Maybe if you could have a badge like that, [I_am_not_a_GA]and put in flashy graphic stuff[/I_am_not_a_GA], then it might be a more suitable badge.
Also, I second Temporariy9's proposal...

I third Tempy's proposal.

In that case my proposal is passed. Yay. Judge badge challenge denied.

Here: I remade the Karma Badge, hopefully it will live up to you divine standards better than the last. Not sure if its better, but it was a hand shaded radial gradient, it has depth, and the colors are more vibrant. Edit: Perhaps this is better?

Actually, wait, the proposed is too big. I'll just go fix that. *two and a half minutes* Here: Apparently the width of badges is 34 pixels, not 35.

I liked the old one better. The new one looks like it's completely pink. On the old one the pink gets lighter and lighter as it gets closer to the center. The new one is just annoying to look at.

I actually agree. The discs sorta look like the center is radiating power, and I don't like how here's no floor on the new badge. >.>

I find that the old one looks like anti-aliasing gone wrong, when the new one is more of a gradient.

|
|
Post by Rock on Jul 8, 2011 21:39:32 GMT
That's exactly what it is. The floor just looks out of place. It was actually there to begin with, but someone requested it be removed. Same with the character outlines. It also actually is anti-aliasing gone wrong, i had no idea how to use the gradient tool so I just tried to do by hand with the pencil tool.

I ay the old one, the circles surrounding, that is faint look quite good like a sort of giving out emotion thing, I don't know, it is hard to explain.

No, you need to get three approvals first.

I guess I approve of Izacque's, I think it kind of fits the idea better. But one thing you guys need to do is just get that text right, it is always badly proportioned, or has some gradient running down it.

Well, according to Temporarily9 17 posts ago, two approvals excluding the challenger. From what I read, not a single other user yet agrees that Izacque's badge is better than the old badge, although I will give it an approval to move on. On the other hand, I count Temporarily9, myself, and others in favor of changing from your old badge to your new badge. I also count several in favor of keeping the old badge.
Alright, the old badge is definitely out of the question and must be challenged. It's gradients were made before you knew how to make the gradient you wanted for it, which affects both the background and the emulation of holiness from the karma-rich player.
The new badge is much better and cleaner: it's the same concept of a dirty fighter bowing before a pure player, but without the ugliness that makes one think of *.jpeg files. Instead of just merely removing the hand-drawn gradient, a new, more subtle computer-generated gradient is in its place to give the badge depth.
