This is a long overdue poll that I normally wouldn't have expected to make were it not for some extraordinary events.
Let's say a user gains enough respect from users to gain the Respect Badge. Later, the user becomes an utter troll, or does something unforgivable, or otherwise shows that the user is unworthy of the Respect Badge. Should the user get to keep the Respect Badge?

Definitely, that member should not have the ability to display their respect badge once they are very hated, or not respected. Like an activity badge, it should be subject to change. I vote yes, on this poll.

Heh, this is totally directed at a single individual. However, I must say yes on the whole.

I would have to say yes, but what exactly would constitute the removal of the Respect Badge? Would it be done manually by staff? Or would there have to be a certain vote by fellow users?

I think the staff should take it away based on a user vote; we don't want people raging at an Admin and demanding a reason why their respect badge is gone...

I think that it should only be taken away if they lose a truly substantial amount of respect, say 6 no votes, so the badge isn't lost over one person's personal vendetta.

I guess the poll for voting on the removal of their respect badge would be shown in the Badges thread, and would end in some 7 days or so after it began. Also, I support the 6 votes for no. Once 10 people vote, I guess, it is made an official decision.

I am gooing to say no for this reason, what happens if he is allright again, he won't get the respect badge back because people will think he is a troll, and therefore he will never get it again. Technially. Just don't karma drain me, vote no on my respect badge and other stuff for this comment, just saying.

Well, if the person truly is alright again after his "troll period" and is indeed worthy of respect again, certainly users would see that and give respect again. One just must hope that the person in question doesn't doublecross those who vote favorably for him, but otherwise I think it would still be possible to get the badge again...

Lol, this is totally directed at me.

I find it interesting that, despite that I clearly indicated that those who act respectfully can re-earn the badge with the appropriate ten votes as usual, Zevulon still voted to prevent the badge from being revoked (it was 7 vs. 2 before he voted, and 7 vs. 3 after he voted). Does he not think that he will ever be respectful enough to re-earn the badge? Does he expect to doublecross again? Surely, if the answers to those and similar questions are all "no," then he should have nothing to fear and the badge, if it manages to be revoked, should be easy enough to re-earn. Even if the badge becomes revokable, who's to say that his respect is in danger unless he is currently acting like rebel scum and doing anything undeserving of respect?

Or, perhaps, I simply am one who is not a particular fan of change, a characteristic of those who are autistic? Or, perhaps, that I actually happened to miss the part where it said it was even re-earnable? After all, knowing you, I'd say you'd be more a fan of a permanent removal, especially with those you paradoxically deem enemies.

Oy, you two, argue elsewhere. Do you think we have somewhat of an agreement here? 6 no votes (yeses countering the nos) in a new "loss of respect" thread to have it revoked?

Six is more than half of the 10 necessary to get the Respect Badge, so I presume that would be a fair amount...

Yes. I mean, if someone gets TSD-status everyone hates them. Why should you flaunt a respect badge if no one likes you?

I presume there are enough votes to pass this, in which case, henceforth, Respect Badges can be revoked if a user who originally earned one loses six of ten respect votes, and can be reearned if the user gains those six respect votes back.

Hm, not what I had expected. I expected it would have been one or something.
