Which do you prefer layout wise, old or new?

I'm desperate to fix this. If a majority agrees for the old, we can get our forum back the way it was. Otherwise, it's stuck in eternal darkness.
VOTE FOR THE OLD!
OUT WITH THE NEW!

I'll admit I liked the old one bwetter, though I'd prefer if there was just an option to go back by choosing skins.

"I guess I'll just stick with this new thing." That doesn't really emulate my feelings at all.

Older is more professional, showed the time and effort gone into it. The new one is just slapped together in 10 minutse.
This is all my opinion, FULL respect to those who like this.

I like the new one, but the grey maybe could be changed so something else... I think the best course of action of course would to have te new as default, and have a selection thingy.

I'm neutral. The older is indeed more professional and all that, but this one is more user-friendly. I just hope the default color switches to classic.

Older is more professional, showed the time and effort gone into it. The new one is just slapped together in 10 minutse. No it isn't. The old one is generic gloss mess with no originality. I just took SW's color scheme and made it pseudo-3D. The new one is unique and doesn't mirror every other forum on the internet. It provides a higher level of user interactivity and is much more content-centric. You no longer load the main page to have your entire screen taken up by a giant brown circle. Now over half of your screen upon initial loading is forum content. There also aren't glosses and shadows galore to keep you from the actual focus of the forum. Also, as I've said on chat, the skin took a good three weeks to complete.

GG, the reason it doesn't mirror any other forum is because this is a deathwish for activity.

Which is why LOOKS is the NEXT most important thing. Why come to a bad looking forum? The content would probably suck, the members rude, etc. Don't judge a picture from it's cover, BUT first impression IS important. Yes, the screen showed an image, but if you SCROLL DOWN you'll see the forum. Not that hard to do.

Wow, way to word the answers in such a fair, unbiased manner. * Sarcasm self-test complete* Oh good, that's online. Anyways, this might save me the need to create a new thread. In chat, you complained about this skin without giving any constructive criticism whatsoever. There was a poll where people could vote for the new skins, and the skins that went into the majority were put into the forum. You didn't vote because you said something along the lines of "not wanting to get involved in politics," so you lost entirely when you could have made your voice heard against using any of the skins. In chat, you also claimed that a 10 year old could make better skins than this, and that you were significantly older than a 10 year old, thereby effectively claiming that you are older than someone who could make better skins than this. Well, despite that you don't deserve this, I'm giving you a chance to have things your way. I challenge you to make a better layout for this forum than the new layout we just implemented. To do this, you have to follow some rules and guidelines to make sure you actually do what you claim anyone 10 years old can do. - You have to create your own test forum so that you will be able to show us the final product of your skin design and thereby let others see whether it is better than this new layout or not.
- You have to come up with an original layout (credited inspirations okay, plagiarisms punishable with Molopoy-style permabans).
- You have to come up with a (or several) color schemes.
- You have to make all the buttons yourself.
- You have to write all the JavaScript and/or CSS and/or HTML yourself. This includes - but is not limited to - moving banners, changing colors, resizing, repositioning, hiding, creating an info center, creating a mini profile, et cetera.
- You have to ensure your design is compatible with the Dan-Ball currency code, the Custom Color code, the Custom Star code, and any other codes we currently utilize for functional (as opposed to aesthetic) purposes in the forum.
- You have to do both the coding and the graphic designing on your own, with no help from anyone except users on the Dan-Ball Forum or reference sites such as W3Schools.
- You may use some Proboards codes in the Code Index, but you must give credit to whoever made the code inside the source. Failure to provide credit is plagiarism, and will result in Molopoy-style permabans.
- Using a scheme or layout already made by GGoodie in this code counts as automatic disqualification, since that's equal to admitting that you need something of his, that you previously insulted, to make your own layout work. You may use Taylor's original, infamous red and peach Dan-Ball color scheme as viewable on Dan-Ball or the forum's old brown and tan color scheme without fear of being disqualified as described.
You have as long as you need to make your alternative, because making a layout is no easy task. If you accept this challenge and manage to follow all the instructions, if it's original and creative, and a majority of those voting between your layout and this new layout by GGoodie prefer your layout, and your layout is easy for an administrator such as Temporarily9 or me to add into this existing forum, then you may rightfully claim your previous claims, you will be rewarded with Dan-Balls and cake (fine, not cake, but no pie, either), and your layout will be implemented. If you don't accept this challenge, you lose all rights to complain about GGoodie's layout if you don't constructively criticize it and get warnings that increase exponentially with each time you complain, starting at 5%. If you do accept this challenge, but fail to meet all the requirements as described, you simply have to use the Rebel Scum Insignia custom star on your profile - nothing major, really.

As I illustrated, the old graphics were not content-central.The whole point of even making a site look good is to decorate the contents. One of the most well known concepts in good web design is that it gets the most content to the user in the quickest and easiest way possible. If a user has to scroll just to find relevant information then content has truly taken a backseat. The new layout has a minimalistic style which uses well placed borders and lines to create a structured and uniform look that still has a spacious and uncluttered feel. On top of this it allows users to choose their color scheme in order to better appeal to the individual user. These color schemes are easily designed and added, allowing me to continuously add more schemes over time, increasing the choices that each member can use.

Would it be possible to keep these color schemes, which I like very much, but have the old layout, which I liked even more?
Would it even be possible to add it as an option like you did with the color schemes? So that you can choose between the old and new layouts, and the color schemes. That way everyone will be happy with it.

Well, I can't read all of this on my iPod, but I far better the old. The new one is just so flat and the colors, even in classic, are terrible. There was no grey on the old skin, and there was just more dimension. And the new logo, it's a blogged Dan-Ball logo Ina flat brown circle that links you to another site when you click on it.

There was no grey on the old skin Yes there was, just not that shade. As for your constant whining about the logo: How about you make one that matches the skin that is better?

Not possible without coding up the butt, which would only slow the site down.

I thought I'd like classic (still do for the default), and I do, but I find that Dedicous (sp?) is my favorite so far.
