Sheesh, Rock. Don't be so spiteful. You shouldn't let a couple of trolls get you down, you're plenty good already. You don't have to win, anyway. Virtual cookies are plenty good and I haven't seen a NOM badge yet.

I still don't really understand why there is a score for neatness.
If I made the categories for judging I probably would have used:
color (how well color is used, meaning greyscale isn't necessarily negative) x/20
style (as in how appealing the overall look of the image is) x/25
originality (whether or not the style is overused or generic) x/15
focus (how well the image guides you to the actual focal point) x/10
total being 70
It's just a thought. If we ever have another contest like this could we consider these?

I think it is alright, I mean, it is just sort of a neutral stand from it. Not to sound rude, but most users on this forum don't know anything about "design", or whatever you'd call it. But it is alright, it is just a sport, don't take it too seriously, you will not survive.

I think of neatness as stuff like no aliasing, correct perspective, logical lighting, no jpeg rape, etc.

Of course you can: as a matter of fact, if you would have suggested these guidelines before the contest was made official, we could have agreed upon those. That's why contests aren't made official immediately: to allow suggestions like this one. I'll try to keep this in mind for the next time I ensure a contest has rules and awards and guidelines, and see what everyone thinks about it. Until then, the guidelines in place now are the guidelines to be used now... |

People have already finished judging all the entries, and it would be grossly unfair to have them start over and potentially alter the overall results. Again, contests are not immediately made official so that people can decide how to go about with the judging procedure, the awards, the due dates, et cetera...

Why aren't they? They seem fine to me. I think Draxorion's probably wasn't counted, because his image wasn't showing up. I am pretty sure it stopped working twice, so far, so maybe it was during one of these times.

I don't know, I honestly do not really see too big of a problem, mainly because you are just basing it off of a website, so 1 for the creativity, then 1 for neatness because everything is over anti-aliased, to the point where it's blurry, and then the originality, based off of something that already exists, and low amounts of things made up for it. I mean, come on, the scores are going to be averaged in anyway. I also really doubt that sheep is posting this for no reason, it seems like it has some reasons.
I understand you are a little upset, because you have low ratings from some people, but try to think of it as some type of criticism to help you improve.
Also, I am not trying to be mean when I say this, but honestly, most people here are not good at graphical art. But this does not mean you can't improve, these things are for fun, do not take things so seriously.
