He posted a porn link while attempting to troll me because of my hate of porn. He posted the link repeatedly, at leat six times, definitely more. He knew I wouldn't check it, so I googled it. It's a real porn ite, judging fromt he google site description (It's boasting about hwo it has the best porn things...) He says he didn't know it was a porn link, yet he should hve checked before he posted it a bunch of times, and a posted porn link is a posted porn link no matter what spin you put on it.
I banned him until the admins say eh should be unbanned.

I just want to point out, I don't think anyone has been to the actual domain in question, which may be an actual pornographic website or may simply be a joke. I think we should first have a volunteer assess the website, and judgement should proceed from there. |

Well, Veers, all I have to say is that this isn't the first time somebody posts porn, me not knowing that porn.com was a real porn website aside, we post it all the time, I don't really know why it's against the rules while EVERYBODY watches it, and I believe that posting porn wasn't the primary reason I got banned, the primary reason was the held spite and anger from the other day when I blew his shit up in Minecraft, Machpunch is like Sparkpowder with moderator powers, just a kid who got promoted because of his obvious knowledge (addiction) of Stick Ranger and his maturity, this isn't how promotions should be based on, they should be based on REAL maturity, age, position fitness, spite resistance, member's vote, staff vote, and most importantly, trust. Using the previous paragraph as my only defense, I demand being unbanned, the demotion of Mach Punch, and the allowance of pornography. |

Hold a sec. NM was hard-on trolling (pardon the pun). Was he genuinely attempting to expose an unwilling member to pornographic images? No. I believe that's what the anti-porn rule is about. Some users are offended by it, so we should accommodate them by not "forcing" them to view it. Posting a link to "Porn.com" is a joke. It's like if I posted a link to necrosex.com. I don't know if such a site exists. The purpose is not get people to view said url. The purpose is to lol@ the url I posted. If any member clicked on this link to "Porn.com", I challenge them to honestly say "wah but I didn't KNOW!"
tl;dr: Pron.com is a joke, not a legitimate attempt to display pornography. The spirit of the rule against pornography, in my opinion, is to protect those who don't wish to view porn. Posting "Porn.com" doesn't violate this protection because the URL is very explicit as to it's contents.
EDIT: This doesn't imply that he shouldn't be punished, but he hasn't done anything ban-worthy.

EDIT: Not a ban-worthy offense. It Is against the rules, so punishment should be given. A banishment is too severe, though.

I must explain why this is a serious offense. First of all, and most importantly, it is against Proboards TOS. If we willingly allow the posting of pornography, our forum is subject to be deleted without warning. Secondly, there are many young players of Dan-Ball, and some of them do visit this forum. Regardless of whether they have a membership here or not, we should not be exposing children to such things, whether on the forum or on the chat (and I personally believe the chat should only be viewable by members for this explicit reasoning). Finally, the majority of this forum's members are minors, and it is illegal in most countries to expose minors to pornography. Now that I have realized how unsightly our chat is, I am going to make a topic on the reform of said chat.
EDIT: Also, will a moderator please remove the link to the website in question from Fox's first post?

Maybe Izacque's point is valid, that someone who posted a portal to pornography without actually posting the materials beyond the portal isn't entirely to blame for any idiot who might actually traverse the portal and go "I didn't know" when it's obvious from the URL, but the poster is still to blame for the link's mere existence on a medium where such links are against terms of service and/or the laws of one or more governing bodies. Not only that, but if anyone posts a link to anything, the poster is responsible for exposing others to the contents of the link, regardless of whether such contents were taken outside the link - this applies to all links, not just pornography. If I were to find a room filled with basilisks, put a closed (but unlocked) door on it so the only way into the room is through the door, show others where this door is, and tell them that there are basilisks behind that door, it's their fault for opening the door but my fault for not vitrifying the room and not telling anyone to see this one room in particular of the billions of other rooms that exist in the labyrinth that is a symbol of the World Wide Web.
There's also the point that you allegedly did it to troll MachPunch, and the fact that you admittedly caused him grief in Minecraft is evidence to support that belief. How can you do those things and not expect to be punished in some manner or another? In any of this, were you ever using your gelatinous mass of fat and nerves inside your head? Did it never occur to think of the consequences of griefing in Minecraft and linking to pornography in the forum chat?
I think that this poor episode may result in two weeks of banishment from the chat, starting however long ago MachPunch made the report in the Ban Board. If two weeks seems too much for the link, think of it this way: one week for the pornographic link that could get this forum deleted, and one week for trolling MachPunch and otherwise not using a brain.
I say that went very well.

I actually kind of have to agree with Nmagane about it being a joke. Ok let's take another situation:
Let's say you tell someone to go to virus.com and you thought the other person was smart enough to not click the site. But maybe the other person clicked the site anyway and got a virus. That would be kind of the clicker's fault more than the poster's fault that they got a virus.
Also, if you don't like something, why would you click it? Doesn't make any sense... -__-

We're here for a pornography post, which joke, troll or not, is against the rules. Furthermore. exposing minors to pornography is illegal in some countries, never mind that the foruum=/=the chat.
