Well, I'm kind of a beginner at excel cause I don't really use it. Can someone explain how to change one cell's value based on another cell's value? Like this:
If cell A5 says "A", then cell B5 would say "3"
If cell A5 says "B", then cell B5 would say "9".
Any way to do this?
And also I'm doing this on a drop-down list. So you can select A, B, C, or D from a drop down list and the cell B5 would change accordingly.
Edit: I know the way where you put If (this=that, 500, if (this=that, 550, 600)) and that method, but i heard it can't go on infinitely, so is there another way?

Is there a particular pattern to your dropdown choices and what they should display? For instance, if A results in 3, B results in 9, C results in 27, and so on, then you might want to consider taking advantage of that pattern.
=3^(code(A5) - code("A") + 1)
The above Excel code snippet should take the ASCII code for a given character (65 through 90 for "A" through "Z", 97 through 122 for "a" through "z"), subtract the result from the ASCII code for "A", add one, and raise 3 to that value. When the dropdown in A5 is "A" the code above will return 3. When the dropdown in A5 is "B" the code above will return 9...
