I recently purchased a book full of brainteasers and lateral thinking questions, so I'll post one and wait until somebody solves the question correctly, and that person will get a point. The first person to five points gets the unbeatable prize of being a winner c:
Yes, I realize this is very close to AP5's Puzzle it Out!, but his thread has died, so I figured I could start something similar with this book.
Anyways, first question: How many times can you subtract 6 from 30? Since I'm nice, I'll give you a hint on the first one: The answer is not five.
AP5: 1 Veers: 2 Necro: 1

1, because you are not subtracting from 30 anymore, you're subtracting from 24.

EDIT: I feel like I should give 50 DBs to each participant and 100 to GV. Because GV is pro at mah puzzles.

Yeah, you got it now. Everybody note he said 0 the first time.
Next question: What number can you subtract half from to obtain a result that is zero?

If it's math, 0. If it's a trick question regarding the shape of the numeral, it's 8.

It's one or the other; pick which one.

Considering it's a puzzle book on lateral thinking, I would personally go with "8"...

And you would be correct. I'll update everything when I can.

Lawl, your puzzles are so easy. 5 points is absolutely nothing, I'd say if the puzzles are this easy.

Trust me, they get very difficult. I went through it and saw...
The police found a murder victim and they noticed a pair of tire tracks leading to and from the body. They followed the tracks and found two men and a woman talking to each other. The police, without question, arrested the woman. Why?

I was about to say "because woman are terrible drivers"....
I think you are leaving some more pieces of the puzzle out, as I see the puzzle, but not the answer in a preview for some book.

I wrote pretty much exactly everything given, and when somebody says the answer, you'll feel REALLY stupid... Because that's how I felt.

Is the book "Tricky Lateral Thinking Puzzles"? If so I would like to know the answers to the first 20 pages.

No, it's not. And I guess I'll tell everybody the answer. The woman was in a wheelchair.
Next question: Walter spent three days in the hospital. He was neither sick nor injured, but when it was time to leave, he had to be carried out. Why? Hint: Walter was human and physically normal. The hospital was a normal hospital. He wasn't able to walk into or out of the hospital.

It was some sort of a medical center dealing with autopsies or something of the sort where corpses would be taken...

No. You've pretty much narrowed it down to one possibility now, though. You just need to figure that out. Keep in mind Walter was alive when he entered and exited the hospital, hence "physically normal".

Is Walter a newborn child? Of his days spent inside the mother, three of them were while the mother was going through labor pains in the hospital. Once he was born, he had to be carried out since a baby, healthy or otherwise, can't transport itself...

Yes, Veers, you got it.
When the woman saw him she was upset. Even though she had never seen him before, she had left some food for him because she knew he would be hungry. But he could not reach the food because he had an iron bar across his back. He died soon after and the woman was pleased. What's going on? Hint: He was an unwelcome intruder. He had visited before, so she left some food for him. She wanted him to die.
This one is really tough, and I didn't get it until I looked at the answer; the answer does make sense, unlike some others in this book that I skipped. I'm just going to add a 48 hour time limit to this one before I post the next question since it's so difficult. The answer will be given after five wrong answers after two days if you guys aren't anywhere near close. The next question will be posted as close to 7:00PM MST Sunday as I can get it.

There you go.
Police put notices all over town to warn people of some kind of crime, but it somehow helped the criminals out. How? Hint: The notices were put up to warn about a certain type of thieves. The thieves watched people's reactions to the signs.
