A melee class, the boxer is usually used as a frontline damage dealer in the Ranger Corps. Although they can't hit as far as any other class in the army, and their punches aren't that powerful (relatively of course, as a single punch from them can dent metal or cave in a human skull), they have the advantage of being able to punch at extreme speeds, allowing them to do surprising amounts of damage in a few seconds of sustained attack.
They operate by many pistons in their arms, which causes them to punch with crazy amouns of strength, as well as speed. As this would provide a hazard to the arms and hands, the arms are equipped with shock-absorbing mechanisms, and the gloves are hooked into it, as springs inside it will absorb the shock from punches. Well, the springs and the target. The pistons and such have three possible upgrade packages for the boxer, the STR package which adds extra power to the pistons, which basically lets the Boxers wallop with more power. The DEX package boosts the main piston engines and the power pack, allowing them to move back and forth more rapidly, letting the Boxer hit with increasing frequency of hits. Finally, the MAG package adds and increases the efficiency of the MP Motion-Power device on the backs of the gloves, which provides power for the secondary attack devices also on the backs of the gloves, allowing a secondary attack to be issued from the glove (certain glove types) upon punching, with decreasing number of hits required. They really dont even encumber the Ranger at all, which lets thicker armor be put on over.
Weapons:
The Training Gloves are a pair of neon red (and therefore easily identifiable) gloves, heavily padded and with special shock absorbers that absorbs almost all of the punch energy, so that no harm comes from the punches thrown by its wielder. It's used, as the name implies, for training for Rangers who have yet to be introduced to the army, and exercises and pre-mission training when not fighting.
"Glove" refers to the standard-issue gloves for newer boxers, with no pads and regular safety equipment. Except in the VERSUS training simulator where it serves to lower one's "Fighting Power" difficulty rank, it is almost always immediately discarded immediately upon obtainment of a better weapon. Hoever, it still serves as a formidable weapon in its own right, preserving the immense energy of the punches thrown by the Boxer while keeping fast. It is this that allows them to slam out attacks with dependable power per second. It is colored a dark, dull blue.
