I figured out how to steal uploads...

Please don't distribute it to assholes, preferably Jackamole. Oh, that's effing great. So, I'm the a-hole? No. You are. You are being completely immature about what happens on Roncampo upon which, by the way, none of that may enter this website. And I was happy to forgive you...
Well, alchemist, we see him as a sort of egocentric douche who constantly whines about his uploads, thinking that they possess some sort of twisted quality (this clearly being the only way one could appreciate them over others who are much better, ergo, almost every active uploader here), advertising them all the time in comments everywhere. I'm surprised he hasn't spammed every single one of them in the uploads section yet, really. Also, he tends to be ignorant. He doesn't know who M4 is and thinks M4 is inferior to him. *gasp* So, that's why. Pickleman, the actual code must be kept a secret. If it gets leaked out, we're all doomed. Thanks AP5, finally someone sees the ignorance in him... Firstly, may I just say: whatever the F&$@ happens on Roncampo, stays on Roncampo. And ignorant? Nope. I just hadn't heard of him. And that is because no one ever spoke about him using his REAL name, (or not his real name) I never knew of him.
Firstly, no one say OMG! Double post! It's called a double quote. Secondly, although it's a good program, it may actually destroy Dan-Ball, as Cod said. But. and there's the but. But, what if, it pulls Dan-Ball back to the population of none-noobs that they had 2-3 years ago. But then again you are right. Don't put it on comments, though, Pickle man. It really won't be good in noobs hands. All I have to say. You're right, in a way. It's not a double post, it's a triple post. You do realize that you can multi-quote repeatedly within a single post, right? I'm afraid this calls for another warning.

It's still a double post.

I myself am a bit worried about having an application like that out there that makes it relatively easy to plagiarize by extracting the save code and then re-uploading it as your own, but I do find some comfort in the fact that the application, so I'm told, is password protected...

Alright, I'm taking this down after 400 uses, I've made my point for now. However, if ha55i does not fix this within 1 week, it will go back up. Possibly forever.
The next move is yours, ha55i.

PickleMan, considering that the last time he did something that was by a poster on the forum was in March of last year (approaching 2 years since), I don't think he'll notice this any time soon. It's irrational to expect him to swing by in a week . Considering he doesn't check the PGCB either (otas does all the deleting), I think it's completely unreasonable to ruin the experience that has gone on for 4 years. So don't. Unless that was a joke.

I emailed him too, but I am serious Maybe if the time comes, I'll put it up for 250 uses, then take it down for a week and repeat until the problem is fixed.

And who was the asshole that put it on the PGCB? That's what I would love to know.

It's not. Lunati stole my Tic Tac Toe upload with it and reuploaded. It's not? Oh, in that case, I have no more comfort. So now the question is, are we really willing to sacrifice the time and effort of good uploaders just to have a potential, but hardly exploited problem, fixed?

PickleMan, if he saw it was English, he may have even deleted it without glancing at it, thinking you had the wrong email. And if someone emails you in French about some affair in a corner of the internet, do you really want to go to pains to find some accurate translator? Any part could be mistranslated into gibberish, and several Japs who commented on the English side said English to Japanese translators on the internet mainly aren't very good. For any one of these reasons Ha55ii might completely ignore you without even learning of the issue, and who's to say he even uses the email account anymore?
In summary, I find it simply preposterous in my opinion that you would ruin fun for the players of PG to shoot for a small chance at fixing a barely exploited problem.

I also sent something to otascube (who does speak english, at least some) asking if he'd notify ha55i about this.

That doesn't mean you can expect him to do it immediately. We have no information at all at how quick the relay is. At any rate, Ha55ii won't fix it at any other time than a Friday anyway. All bug fixes come a moment after. Even if he does see it and works ferociously to do it, he still has to update Friday. In fact, it might not even be compatible with the save data. And Ha55ii might deem it such a little exploited problem that he won't even fix it.
So, all of your messages are improbable, and even if it does get received, there is null chance that he will update it by the time you required, and it may not even work as well. Changing something from Novermber 2007 is not something that Ha55ii normally does. What I think is that you're completely illogical in ruining an experience for countless PG players for something that is likely to not work just to stop people from exploiting a code that has not been used in 4 years.
And that's why.

Otascube. PickleMan, think of it this way. You visit the Great Wall of China and find a little brick in the wall with a few bars of gold behind it. You then send a letter to three people in China, a Tibetan farmer, a Beijing shop owner, and a hermit in Hong Kong, telling them to deliver it to the Chinese government. The letter states that if they don't seal off that hole within a week, you'll nuke the Great Wall because you don't want anyone reaching the bars. Also, the letter is in Ancient Greek. Also, you repeatedly state how important it is that no one finds the bars, because they have some amount of value if they find a key in Nigeria.
That's an analogy about how I see it. Tell me if you think that's reasonable.

Post by Fringe Pioneer on Dec 31, 2011 6:26:16 GMT
The analogy doesn't quite fit.
Imagine that you're looking through some government websites for whatever reason when you realize that there's a security exploit that allows anyone to control patent issues, essentially allowing people to falsify documentation to say that they, not the true patent holder, hold the patent. This security exploit is a relatively difficult one to get through, certainly "too confusing" for the layman. The government that has this exploit speaks Croatian, and you only speak English. You send an email using Google Translate to the head of the Patent Office of that government and to his assistant. The head only knows Croatian and doesn't see the email amongst the millions that he constantly receives, but the assistant knows a little bit of English if he has a translation tool handy and doesn't have nearly as high an email volume as the head for whom he works. The email states that, if the Patent Office doesn't resolve the issue, you'll take what's otherwise an unintuitive, obscure exploit and make it easily accessible to the general public and repeat the demand weekly. You then make a comment on some board, linking to your new tool that makes a difficult exploit easy, and lets a random user do whatever he wishes with it. That user then uses your tool to falsify a document and claim a patent that doesn't belong to him, and in the process stealing the royalties associated with the patent.
This more closely relates to the issue at hand...

Yeah, that fits more. I wanted a bit more conscise thing, but I think you get that I don't think your claims are reasonable.
Especially because Ha55ii can't fix it by your "deadline", considering it's before next Friday...

It'll be pretty hard to fix a code saving thing that has been used for 3 years...

Post by PickleMan on Dec 31, 2011 15:18:44 GMT
I won't do it until sunday maybe, but still, changing the save codes would just be taking the powder game section down for a few minutes and running a script to update the database/all the files where the codes are saved after running a short script on them.

So, it seems the allegorical assistant to the Patent Office is able to easily inform the allegorical head of the Patent Office about the allegorical website exploit and convince him to fix the allegorical problem of stealing rights to patents.
Thanks to both Otascube and ha55ii for the attempted fix...

Bug fixes don't count as updates by themselves. That's how things work at DB. Also, even though Ha55ii said he fixed it, it still works Dafuq There may have been a misunderstanding, but at least we have a portal to report important bug fixes. Try again

Might I recommend communication on the Japanese tech support board? Seems to be the only one he uses often. Glad to know you interpreted the PG codes by the way, that one had us stumped for a LONG time. Might be good if we want to use it for things more fair than an upload copier. Third-party upload editing tools, anyone?

Qwerty, Pickle didn't decipher them, he just found a way to siphon them off of existing uploads, which you can do to your own uploads legally.
Pickleman, HE'S GONE. THAT'S WHY THERE WAS NO UPDATE. HE ALREADY THOUGHT HE FIXED IT SO HE LEFT. HE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID OR SOMETHING, BUT IT STILL WORKS, AND HE THINKS IT DOESN'T. KNOWING THAT HE HAS LEFT DAN-BALL LAST YEAR FOR A WEEK, DO YOU THINK IT'S FAIR FOR YOU TO DEMAND HE UPDATE IT FOR YOU? I FIND THAT THIS IS THE LEVEL AND LOGIC OF A NOOB WHO DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THAT HA55II HAS A LIFE OUTSIDE OF DAN-BALL TOO.
*sigh*

Why would you want to exploit the codes anyway, not like some random stupid noob which populates nearly all of PG would find it... After all, it's been 3+ years until someone figured it out.
