Thursday is Ask an Atheist day. As such I will be answering all questions asked of me on this thread for the entirety of the day in any timezone. So long as it is Thursday somewhere, it'll be open.
Why not in debate, you ask? Well, hypothetical person, that's because I have one limit on questions asked of me.
They cannot have anything to do with atheism, religion, or politics.
Yep, I'm completely abusing the concept of AAA day by missing the point entirely. So, here's your chance to ask an atheist anything that has nothing to do with atheism.

I'm refusing to answer that as it relates to religion. EDIT: Nice edit, Dhoom.

What is your opinion on Catholic Church's use of bread and wine to symbolize the body and blood of a person. What is your opinion on symbolism.

Abraham Lincoln or Millard Fillmore?

Do you believe we value symbols too much in our society, and that it is insulting by atheists to disprove the realization that God does not in fact exist and ruin everybody elses fun? Seriously, who does that?

Esther drove to work in the morning at an average speed of 45 miles per hour. She returned home in the evening along the same route and averaged 30 miles per hour. If Esther spent a total of one hour commuting to and from work, how many miles did Esther drive to work in the morning?

@m4: Fillmore, of course. dhoom: I believe we value symbols too much, but I'm not answering the rest of that cause it still relates to atheism. I think you're missing the point of this thread. @disgorged: The number of miles between her house and work, following roads and considering gas stops.

Using only elementary geometry, what is angle x? Provide a step-by-step proof.
|
|
|
Post by Qwerty on Apr 19, 2012 0:54:28 GMT
Step one: Triangles are awesome. Step two: Every angle in a triangle is 42 because science. Step three: Angle x is 42 degrees.
I said I would answer them. I didn't say I'd answer them correctly.

Ralph Craig ran the 100m for the US in 1912; when did he next compete in the Olympics?

Post by Qwerty on Apr 19, 2012 0:57:02 GMT
@m4: It's close, but I'd have to say Euler.
@disgorged: 1948.

I don't read comics much, but I'd have to say Doomish's rendition of the main character of Bioshock.

If a bullet pierced a glass window at y=6 m and hit a wall 6 m directly ahead of it at y=5 m, how high was it shot, assuming it's muzzle velocity was 400 m/s, it weighed 8 grams, there was a gravitational acceleration of 9.8 m/s^2, and negligible air resistance and no hindering of speed from the breaking of the window?
Also assume it was shot horizontally.

Post by Qwerty on Apr 19, 2012 1:19:50 GMT
@m4 Depends on which laws of physics you're using. If gravitational acceleration is upwards, we have a serious problem.
In all seriousness, though, I'm frankly too lazy to solve that. I'll graph it later no doubt.
@necro Neither, I avoid energy drinks.
