This new skin was an effort to increase the amount of activity on the site and make it more appealing, which the v2 skin seemed to fail to do. Regardless of whether you liked the previous skin, there is still the issue of whether it was enticing to potential members or not. I have not a single doubt in my mind that V2 would be enormously more appealing to any new member than the new skin. Just because V2 was getting old, does not mean it was "unappealing", by any means.

No offense to Chronologik, but there is not a doubt in my mind that we would lose half of our members over the disadvantages of that forum.

I presume that is a "yes" to my previous question?

I have not a single doubt in my mind that V2 would be enormously more appealing to any new member than the new skin. Just because V2 was getting old, does not mean it was "unappealing", by any means. In terms of how many members it received or attracted, yes, perhaps it was better in terms of generating new membership than the current one. But the point still stands. It was not enough to spark regular activity. Also, I heard user: 'Chronologik' is no longer providing the idea of new forum software.

Anyway, is there any word on when we'll be able use custom stars, or have that finished icon set?

So??? How many times did somebody break it while trying to modify something? As far as I can recall, no one ever had any such problems with it. The question rather is: How long was the forum not broken? Also I'd call the colored names script a bug, because its so damn slow, but its also in the new skin and still the bugged implementation...

Anyway, is there any word on when we'll be able use custom stars, or have that finished icon set? The answers respectively are "I don't know" and "never," because I'm going to try my hand at designing skins for this forum. I'll probably focus on getting one skin done instead of finding color schemes and background images for all the ideas I have in mind, especially since I'm not by any means experienced with [partial] website design, but I do have until mid-August to work on this...

Well, due to this lately, I have noticed that avatars aren't working as well, the custom stars have proberlems and we can't find out how many dbs or post and stuff like that, I mean veers has it but when I look at it again after refresh it has dissapeared.

Waitwaitwait... If you're going to move, is it only going to be enabled solely for computer? I mean, if I can't use my iTouch for it I'll have about 20 posts in only one day per month. I need it to be accessible as a free app or simply using the safari app, because my family are in the house 95% of the time. So if it's seriously disabled in the iTouch I'll have to be gone mostly.

There used to be a free version, but I guess they got rid of it.

*cough*free ProBoards app*cough* You totally misunderstood the question. he was asking whether a move to chrono's software would mean no more app. the correct answer would be: "well, chronologik isn't doing it anymore for us, so It's a moot point"

Well, would it be too much to ask for a skin that is comfortable on my eyes? I default proboards color one? With a secondary color of blue and a base of white. Something that is nice to look at and calming. Not these dark greys and greens and blues.

Yes, you can change it in your profile settings, if you haven't noticed... Skin choices in Miniprofile.

Honestly, I can't really say whether or not I like this. I hate some of the skins, and love some of them. My rating:
Cobalt: AWESOME. Dan-Ball: F**king stupid.

If anything, I'd prefer going back to the old skin.

Yes, the shiny bronze skin WAS rather nice... But I like the simplicity and lumpiness of this one.

It's far too late to switch to the old at this point. We're already used to this one.

Well, we were used to the first one when we switched.

Sure, because this one is much more coding-efficient, resource-efficient, plus it has the whole color thingy. It's simply not worth switching back after we've used the new one for so long. We didn't then when it was more likely than it is now, so why should we now, when it is less likely?

lol excellent use of the face.
If you really want to make a change in this forum, you need one of the following: - a 90% or more majority approval - everyone directly involved approving, and a simple general majority - an easy to implement and fool-proof plan, and a simple majority approval
Get one of these things and then complain.

Post by Fringe Pioneer on Dec 13, 2011 2:50:21 GMT
I can probably guess someone's next response: they get to complain because we certainly didn't have a 90% approval when putting up the skin, not everyone I tried to involve in the skin changing process approved (the coders and those who understood the coding involved approved, but nearly everyone else was reluctant to try or simply didn't want to mess with the status quo), and I don't know if the skin change counted as "fool proof" or not.
Let me start a poll now that we have all had time to adjust, and then consult with the rest of staff to determine whether I may make a particular promise or not...

Post by QwertyuiopThePie on Dec 13, 2011 3:15:29 GMT
No point making the promise. We've been using this skin for six months and it has served us just fine, there's no point switching back now.

Post by Fringe Pioneer on Dec 13, 2011 3:26:47 GMT
The promise would have been that, if a majority would prefer to have the old skin back and someone who isn't me can and will simplify the coding for it to be at least as nice as the easily manageable CSS files and few-liner JavaScript, then they can have the old skin back...

Qwerty, just because you want to keep this skin doesn't make a good reason.
