Consider this a personal blog, about my in development game, now called InDETS (In Development Empire Type Sandbox) Here's a random concept image of a riverside cutout, While I am still getting the concepts down, one thing is for sure, you can control a Planner Mode (Empire Tab), King Mode (God View Tab, under deep thought, might be taken out), and a Personal Tab (Indivi, play as one of 5 different roles in your kingdom in MC First Person Style gameplay, each with totally differant sets of gameplay mechanics, stories, based truly on your Empire. Take control of an Empire, in a time of perseverance and guilt, you and your workers will start an empire at the start of time. Blessed by the gods with advanced tech of your time. With siege machines. You will control, outposts, villages, cities, and fortresses, and while you may prosper above ground. You shall delve deep. And use unique concepts, such as underground roads and cities. And protect your noblemen and people. Basically, you take control of a small ass company, several ingame years later, get a village, yada yada yada, Big ass City, yada yada yada , Huge ass Empire. The goal is to discover new concepts of running empires. Underground Elaborate Roads with Lava Falls, Be a unique underground kingdom with huge Outposts to gaurd the entrances to your cities. Or prosper above ground. Or both...

"Basically, you take control of a small ass company". Well I'd start out as a basic group and work my way up into a military base. Is that something I could do? Or do I have to manage everything...?

This does not belong in forum games.

Technically, you have to manage every single aspect of a empire, and, it even has unique tastes. Such as animal control. Everything goes in depth, and the enviroments will hopefully look pretty.
Please note the concept blocks are very plain, I will texture the real offical blocks like HD Minecraft Blocks, with better textures.

I don't think the blocks look right the way they are now. I think everything should be flat with no lines. Or... Maybe some other way. This way might also fit though.

I guess you didn't get the fact that is Pre Alpha 3D Concept Models.
Mainly thinking about textures and Mob AI Types,
Dynamic liquids, the shadows, dynamic lighting. Dynamic Cloud Types. Gravity, Air Types...The list goes on.

Some questions...
So you build a civilization from its roots, and then conquer the world? That kind of game?
Will underground tunnels collapse? How does King mode work?

A list of Animals, Humanoids, Enemies, and Creatures.
90 Total Land Animals/Insects
1 Mosquito 4 Frogs 3 Wild Cats 1 Domestic Cat 2 Types of Wolf 9 Types of Snakes and much much more.
I love the snakes,
The main important enemies are the Elephants and Dragons...
Elephants are common, and will be the biggest enemy to your base in your mid early years of kinghood.
As more people you get, you have to fight a dragon eventually... Which will be VERY hard.

So, Dwarf Fortress meets Minecraft, but mostly Dwarf Fortress? Sounds good to me. But please, PLEASE release it AFTER it has no semblance with Minecraft. You've seen what happened to the two Minecraft clones.

Which clones tempy?

I forgot the names, but I know one. We've been over this: Infiniminer is a completely different game. Totally different game, totally different direction. Just like this game. But those clones are true clones: Not a single original idea of their own (Except minecarts, which they probably stole from the Minecraft forums anyway), and one is actually hoping to steal money from Notch by selling what is in essence the already-free Creative mode with bloom thrown in.
This one, on the other hand, can be in third person, and is more of a civ-type thing, or, rather, a dwarf-fortress type thing. Totally different, but in the early stages it may look too similar. Just warning you: That minecraft crowd is vicious when it comes to clones.

Well, did I mention that Empire Mode will use a Square Grid with Cut Layers?
Yeah, so not really much of a minecraft feel unless you iamge top down with some sprits, though the people will be moving in real time etc.

Don't even ask, I got bored with testing some concepts in 3D, and instead put in some MC Mobs. I get distracted so easily...

It seems this is the thread in which people ought to be posting, instead of the Sand Block thread.
In order to get a feel for this game, I ask one thing: what is Dwarf Fortress?
|
|
|
Post by nmagain on Sept 26, 2010 10:52:02 GMT
Dwarf Fortress is a rogue-like game that focuses on the establishment and long-term maintaining of a dwarven settlement. Everything is rendered in ASCII, although there are "tilesets" and "charsets" that render everything differently.

Pretty much explained well. It's free ware. So you can download it for free. Beware of a 1 week solid learning curve.

The learning curve is not a curve. It is a cliff. It starts at the top and stays there.

A higher order of intelligence is needed to fully learn the possibilities with Dwarf Fortress.
As for extra plans, this and complete guide are different. This is a general blog MOSTLY about Blocky Empires. My complete guide thread will be a tutorial for what is planned.
One of the most difficult things I am figuring out is Set Pieces. With tags or names down alist. That way you can make puzzle block pieces. Like Hallways and stuff that are already engraved and carved. They just need to be planned. This saves a lot of time for the player. But how many should you be allowed to have I wonder...
As for the save amount. You may only have 1-2 worlds. Problably 1.
