...but I want to keep this skin, too...

Did you read my post? The reason isn't just that I want to keep it. We've been using it a long time, it works just fine, changing back would take a major coding change, changing back would be unnecessary, some people really like other color schemes...

Yes but you haven't been saying pointless reasons for keeping it.
Edit: (Was a response to GV's post)
Qwerty, we did it once, we can do it again, especially (not at the moment) if the general population agrees.
Edit: The old one worked fine as well. Just sayin'...

Temporarily9's reasons are not pointless reasons, especially not the reasons as they relate to coding...

So, they both worked fine and the old one is much less efficient in terms of coding and user-friendliness. Seems like a no-brainer.

User friendly-ness? My belgiuming arse.

Howso? They have the same buttons in the same places, except there are labels on these buttons and color choices for those that don't like orange. This is indeed more user-friendly than the older, where many people didn't know which button did what.

Anyone who was on the forum for at least a week or less (3-4 days) knew what they did.

When you see a logo on a site, it is assumed that it A) Does nothing or B) like to the home page. When i click a logo I never expect it to link me to another site, regardless of relation. The old one had much more shading, and looked better overall, this one is just a flat, ugly, collection of boxes and its logo looks like a bloated piece of shit. The old skin juts looked over all nicer, and actually had a complete icon set. The only think I like about this skin is that the display is "liquid" and changes with your browser window, but that's not that important.

Alright,
People for Old Skin (v2): 5 People for current skins: 4 People for other skin: 3

You're right: the logo linking to the Dan-Ball site instead of to the forum home page is rather unintuitive, and an incomplete icon set is never preferred. As for "bloated," I think the other skin was bloated. As many images as composed the tables and background of the site, loading was much slower depending on your connection, and we have had a time when a server hosting the images going down for certain nations made the old skin disappear entirely for some users, leaving broken images everywhere, something significantly worse than the ugliest of the skin color choices we have now.
Significant JavaScript + Images for almost everything = Longer loading time, especially with poor internet connections CSS + Insignificant JavaScript + Images only for icons = Shorter loading time
Since I have already ranted about coding issues several times, I won't do that again except to remind everyone now that coding issues are worse with the old skin than with this skin...

Am I one for the current skin? I really like the "not important" liquid display. As a multitasker, the ability to read messages without having to side-scroll is wonderful. I used to actually zoom out just because of that problem. I also like the new color selections. I'm deciduous, I think, and I find the colors much more pleasing to the eye than brown and orange. Also, if the big danball at the top is bothering you, do you realize how EASY it would be to remove it? I'd back a poll to remove that link if it would make you stop complaining... EDIT: Ad Block Pro is pro.

Iza, no, that's your first post that can be considered a vote.

Oy, we're not having a vote yet. No keeping track of votes that don't exist. To avoid bias, if we have a vote at all, it must be on a flesh slate in an actual poll, not kept track of by one side of the argument. From all I've seen, you're taking "The logo should link to somewhere else" as a vote entirely against the current skin (not the new skin, we've been using it far too long to call it the new skin).

I really think this layout is much more streamlined than the old one. This one also has nicer art work, I do not think the older one's artwork was very high quality, it had a nice idea, but wasn't done that well, or as well as it could be done. I definitely agree with General Veers on the bloated thing, from what I remember, the logo at the top took up way too much space, especially on smaller monitors. Maybe some more skin options could be made every now and then, just to add some variety. That's another thing I like about this skin, it seems very flexible to work with.

We're not voting. Whatever you want, we're sticking with the current layout, deal with it.

I like how you call the forum skin a piece of shit, and expect people to listen to you. If you're going to make an argument, at least have the decency to explain in a more formal manner. We already voted on this before, and we decided to keep this skin. Yet, I would say if we were to ever change the forum skin/layout, instead of reverting back to the old skin I would recommend creating a completely new skin. We have a test forum to test different layouts/skins. We could also have someone edit the coding on the test forum in an attempt to make it more user-friendly. You should never have to 'downgrade' a forum. Instead of bitching about how this one looks terrible, come up with some ideas that can incorporate the appeal of the old layout into the functionality and accessibility of the current one.

Damn new artists with their "shading is better" rules. Minimalism is good.

Well, taking the general opinion, not many people want to design a new forum as opposed to either staying with this one or reverting back to v2.
Edit: Here's the thing General, I know it's wrong, but most people don't give a flying f**k about the coding end. :/

And actually, Veers doesn't have to give a damn when it comes to accepting your idea or not. Obviously you do not understand how much of a pain in the ass it is to get a forum to run smoothly with the proper coding. Maybe if you actually understood what you were talking about, you could conjure up some sort of decent argument, other than "lolololo admin has to do this because we said so."

Did you read my posts at all? The general opinion has been expressed from the previous posts in this thread.
I'm not saying I don't care about the hassle of coding, I'm saying most people don't.
Please try to read posts before replying to them.

From what I've seen, only five people don't care about the coding.

That is false, I care about the coding, I simply would like a better looking forum than this, if that is unavailable with the old skin I'm open to suggestions.

Since when is the "general opinion" not to make a new skin? I've seen several people want a new skin here. More, in fact, than want to switch to the old, although not as many as want the current.

For the last time, the "general opinion" is views from THIS thread, because this is where it is to be discussed.

Post by Qwerty on Dec 16, 2011 1:28:14 GMT
Yes, I am talking about views from this thread. You don't get to define what "general opinion" is anymore than I do. If anyone can define general opinion, then most people agree that pink is a good color to use with yellow.

Post by Zrined on Dec 16, 2011 1:31:19 GMT
Are you seriously arguing? The general opinion is that expressed most by those involved, in this case, more people in THIS thread have said they would like to go back to the old skin or keep this one than the other option.

That's what you claim. I've seen different, and yes, in THIS thread. Even your own poll has new skin far beyond old skin.
