Just posting for Veers...
I want it to take a user inputted IP and Port for a server and connect to it.
When it receives a message from the server I want it to display it to the user (it will be a bunch of ASCII character bytes)
After it recieves and diplays the message I want it to send a byte in return (the number 42 maybe)
Then I want it to send the message it recieved back.
This doesn't need to be nicely polished, it's just for me to build off of...

The following site has good information concerning the construction of a server program in Java. The three main components of successful communication are the server program, the client program, and the protocol that the server program utilizes. download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/networking/sockets/clientServer.htmlI did exactly as you indicated in the above post; however, I'm betting that my program will be meaningless unless you create a corresponding server Java program.
