multiplayer game 2d landscape front layer (decoration) player layer 1 (you can walk on it) player layer 2 (you can walk on this as well) back layer (decoration) backdrop (decoration, scrolls past much slower than the other layers, and will be 1/4 as pixelated)
pixelated landscape with a small color pallet (still working on the schema for that) players can build. Certain color ranges will have different properties. (earth, wood, fire, grass...) Ambient environment. Vertical motion will be very important (floating platforms, etc) Mostly nature like, non natural elements will be difficult to make. Limited physics Small screen size. Full screen will just make the pixels bigger (won't that be just EPIC?)
Communication protocol will be easy to understand and implement. Graphics will be simple. Client software will be easy to write in many languages. Hopefully we can get somebody to do Java and Flash...
Priority for me: 3 School work, violin, THIS
Once I get a simple VB server and client up and running, I'd like to get somebody to make a Java client and a Flash client.

Flash does not program will with layers. Flash game programming is, as far as I know, done on one layer.
Animation and Java are completely different stories. Flash animation works great in multiple layers. This game will probably work best in Java.

Hehe, I'd like to join this game when the first version becomes available. As I said above, it sounds like a cool game.
