This is basically a thread explaining my day today. I'll update as things happen.
Here it goes...
I woke up quite early, at about 6:20 am. I went and took a shower and then got dressed. I had breakfast and decided to skip choir that morning in favor of breakfast. (As breakfast in the boarding house is served at the same time for everyone) I went to assemble only to be sent away from the assembly hall to the choir practice which I was now extremely late for. My friend and I (who both were in the same boarding house and both wanted our bacon and eggs) came up with a story to use as an excuse for why we were late. We arrived and the teacher didn't notice. (Well he DID notice, but he didn't make a fuss about it) We sang all the way through assembly and then went back to our houses. As soon as I arrive back to my room/the boarding house I get bombarded with questions as to why I was not in assembly. I replied I was at choir. I then found out that I had won a medal for placing in top 25 in the country for the mathematics Olympiad (although there are three other guys in my grade who were in the top 10) and then I also got a high diploma award for piano and playing in an eisteddfod.
I then collected my bag and went to History where we did revision over the whole Cold War, the End of WW2 and Chinese communism. I really didn't actually do any work in that class (even though there was no work to do) and just posted and chilled on my laptop for that period. (I still mildly paid attention to the teacher) I then packed up at the end of the lesson and went to EMS where we basically had a free period as the teacher just told us to do our own thing and revise (or not) for the test coming up. I also played the new Stick Ranger update in search for the new compo items and found a funny maths youtube vid. to watch. (suggested by disabled in another thread)
Next up I had afrikaans. It was fliek vrydag! (Movie friday) So no using laptops in that class, but at least the movie had subtitles. (even though it was clearly a very cheap movie) After Afrikaans I headed over back to my house. (As it was break now) I typically spend all my breaks in the boarding house with my friend there. Sorta. The main reason I went back was because it was TOASTIES! Which is basically known as toasties friday because only on friday our classes are changed into 3 classes, break 3 classes and home/lunch. To keep us going until lunch they give us toasties! I manage to get a freshly made ham and cheese one too! I also got myself an orange and ate that. I never even knew we got oranges until today. XD
It was time to head out to the first of my next three classes. First up was Maths. I went in and sat next to a guy. (Guy was his name BTW. He's also the one teaching me Java as my java is pathetic, as you saw in the earlier threads, which is why I went to him for help.) As I say next to him the teacher handed out a certificate and medal to Guy and I. (As we were both also in the choir so we both didn't get our awards there.) We then got our tests back from the day before. As expected from first set maths, 80% of the class got full marks. (It was a basic trig test and we have already covered and gone beyond the required standers) Immediately after receiving our tests we were told to get on with the rest of all our trig work. Basically all the trig we are doing now is for the AddMaths exam that only the first set maths write. All we really had to do extra was three rules. Sine rule. (for working out sides and angles of a non-right-angle triangle. Cosine Rule. (for working out an angle if you have all three side and any side of a triangle if you have two others and an included angle.) And the area rule. (Which guy had a wonderful poem that I liked so much I wrote it down)
If there is no right angle
And the area needs to be seen
Multiply half by both of the sides
And sine of the angle between
So catchy! We haven't learn the tan rule yet (and I don't think we'll do it this year).
After math ended Guy and I discussed the advantages of linux. I have always wanted to install a linux system on my laptop, but I never found the time or the space. I've just learnt that my family are getting a 2TB hard drive soon so I'm going to back up all my stuff and partion off 10GB of space for a linux system. Then I can have multi-boot. I then went of to biology. We were doing the cell, organelles of a cell and how cells are incorporated into tissue and organs. First part of the lesson was a worksheet to be done with notes. (which I didn't have but the worksheet was easy and I knew my stuff) The second part of the lesson was doing a worksheet on our laptops, copied from the intranet. No Dan-Ball during this period though as our teacher is quite strict about what we do on our laptops during his lesson.
The final lesson of the day was Science. Wonderful way to end the day. (No seriously, it was) We were doing waves and had just started doing sound. We were going to do a practical test on the speed of sound. We just went out on a field, measured the distance, one side had the teacher with the gun and the other side had two people with stop watches. One looks at the gun and waits to see the smoke, one waits for the sound. Eventually after 6 tests or so we calculated the speed of sound. We actually came out pretty accurate. 314ms-1 which is almost 330ms-1. After science finished I went to have lunch and then went home with my parents. (a long 45 minute drive)
This brings me to where I am now. Home, writing this post and relaxing.
That's my day!
