Karma
-Chapter One-What is it?
Karma is a system used to show how respected, or disliked a person is. Some people abuse karma and smite people like crazy, even if the have done nothing wrong! So if you see your karma deplete and you KNOW you are a good member, ask a staff member. They'll help you figure it out.
-Chapter Two-How do I get/lose/give/take it?
You can get it two ways; contests and when other members press your exalt button in your profile. You lose it when they press smite. You can increment/decrement other members' karma. There should be a button under their name and member info. Exalt/smite. Exalt gives them 1 karma. Smite removes 1 away.
-Chapter Three-When to use the exalt/smite button.
Exalt someone if they are:
1. Friendly 2. Following the rules 3. Being Resposible 4. Furthering the popularity of the site at their own expense 5. Advertising
Smite someone if they are:
1. Mean 2. Breaking Rules 3. Not being responsible 4. Flaming 5. Trolls
That concludes this guide!

You should put 'furthering the popularity of the site at their own expense' in the pro-karma section. :3

People have right to exalt or smite anyone they choose. Even if they are good in your eyes. They might not be in others...

People don't have the right to spam the "smite" button. We can artificially raise people's Karma if they do.

But, I beleive that in one instance. They can choose one karma whether any which way. Even if it goes against your opinions.

Yes, we realize that, but it would still be considered "spamming" if you were to exalt/smite a person, wait for an hour, exalt/smite the same person, wait for an hour, exalt/smite the same person, wait for an hour, exalt/smite the same person, et cetera.
There is no denying that someone so determined to exalt or smite a person is spamming either of those buttons. Yes, people have the right to smite someone, and so they may smite that person once. People also have the right to exalt someone, and so they may exalt that person once. The only time people will be getting multiple karma in positive or negative amounts from the same source is if the person wins a contest.

Or if they wait all of a month to exalt them again, for something specific.

Maybe it would be better to change the word "take" to "decrease"? Just to clarify to new members that they are not taking karma from someone and adding to their own.
But they are just decreasing someone's karma. You could also do the same with the word "give" and replace it with "increase". -ShiningSilver

I think I will change to "increment" and "decrement"...

Ah, okay.
"Increment" and "decrement" would work also. Hope you don't mind, just to clarify to new members so they don't get confused.

It,s annoying isn,t it? Newbs think they take Karma from you and give it to himself. That,s what they think.
BTW don,t worry i will help you get some Karma back.

Once you notice it you should notify staff ASAP so they can look into the logs to see whether or not it was spammed. If it was, they'll probably restore it for you. If it wasn't... If you wait too long or don't notice it for a good while, they might not be able to find it.

Uh, isn't it kinda abusing the system to give karma for no reason? I know that I do not smite without reason, but if someone is going to SPAM EXALT someone, should that not count similar to spam smiting someone? EDIT: Oh, and I did not smite you.

If anyone reports spam smiting/exalting, contact TSL, Veers, or myself. Preferably Veers as he can use his own account. We can check the records and see who it was.

I was -3 yesterday....what happened? Three unique individuals smited you. One waited for an hour to pass before smiting you again, but other than that, I see no spamming listed in the security log.

As for me?
I have a lot of smiting. I could care less if it's individuals. I care that I am being smited in the first place.

I was -3 yesterday....what happened? @nmag: Protip: Make less single word posts. Really, toss a tiny bit of effort into your posts. Not just a single, or a few word post... "what" Is the post I am mainly looking at. @omni: If it is individuals, it is not really spam...

No, Nmagain's post was a legitimate post that conveyed its meaning. There is nothing wrong with the one you quoted.

Seriously, his posts almost entirely consist of "Not good" or "indeed". We have a rule against that sort of thing; it's how he got his warning.
Heck, I was one of the people that smited him. Not OMNI, though. I'll exalt you just cause your karma is low, but you are a respectable person mostly.

Were you serious, or just kidding? I have been reversing the karma I give you because of that... EDIT: @nmag: " Together we'll bring a moderator down" also does not get you any karma from me...
