That just made #1 on my list of stuff I need. The white one, with the light beige leather, to be exact. Its got a dual core processor, 10 hour battery, and front and back facing cameras. And a bunch of other stuff.

First: How is this news? The iPad 2 has been known about for rather a long time.
Second: Why do you NEED one? Why not wait until the iPad 3 comes out in another few months or so?

Qwerty- Yes, the iPad 2 has been known since the original iPad came out. and it won't be in a few moths, try a year. Apple updates their products about once a year. Never twice. (apple) hater!
Mk- True, but the iPad 2 is newer, faster, thinner, and more powerful.

Yes, and also much bulkier and you can't fit it in your pocket. You could just modify the ten iphones to be linked together and do more and look more awesome in the process. It isn't that I hate apple, it's that I hate their marketing strategy.
Besides, why not get a Xoom? Slightly more expensive, but way more features.

Are you seriously suggesting that I buy 10 phones and pay for $700 a month for their service? They don't sell the phones without service, you know. And as for the Xoom, it can go to hell. The thing costs $200 more than its iPad equivalent. And besides, for all those "features", the only 1-up it has on the iPad 2 are the ports, one of which doesn't even work yet, and he fact that it'll have 4G in like 5 months. So basically you want me to either spend $700 month on 10 outdated phones, or buy a more expensive tablet with 2 extra ports.

comicjk.com/comic.php/96The comic itself isn't what I would like to point out, but the mouse-over text:
If you're curious about the plot, you should not read comic 96 yet. Read comic 45, and then read all the comics between 68 and 99 inclusive, except for 69 and 93.

My point is not that it is less expensive than the iPad 2. I am suggesting that if you get it from the right place it is slightly more expensive than the original iPad, but the features outweigh it. I half expect you hadn't even heard of the Xoom before I mentioned it.

Dude. I know about everything that could pose a minuscule threat to to anything Apple sells. Even if it has no chance, like the Samsung Galaxy Player, which is supposed to rival the iPod touch. Sucks for them, Apple already won the MP3 war. I heard about the Xoom like, the day it was announced at the CES, I knew it was slated for a release on Feb. 24, so Apple shipped out their new MacbookPro line to divert the attention. I know it has a Tegra 1GHz dual core processor. I know it has 10 hour battery life. I know that its Micro SD slot doesn't work yet. And I know that it weighs 1.6 lbs. And besides, why are we even talking about this? If you want to exalt the Xoom, go make your own thread and stop jacking this one.

I'm not saying apple is a cardboard box full of vomit. I'm saying it's a computer that costs way more than it should and can only be used for specific purposes, such as repressing the ideals behind free software (free as in speech).
Look at yourself. You say you need, not want, NEED this new device, and you take it upon yourself to keep track of anything and everything that could ever possibly compete with apple so you can insult those, and your entire custom profile is made out for apple. Yeah, we can pretty easily say you like Apple without due cause.

Without due cause? Apple rocks. Their software is fantastic and their hardware is phenomonal, and the unibodys for their macs are beuatiful. They invented video calling (on a phone) and the graphics software for macs is great. Now back on topic.

So long as everyone remembers that it was Xerox that came up with the first functional GUI that both Apple and Microsoft stole, we should be okay...

They invented video calling (on a phone) and the graphics software for macs is great. Now back on topic. Their software is actually pretty bad by today's standards. For one, OSX is basically a locked-down version of Linux without right-click support. And before you say "Macs CAN right click now!" there is a very limited number of uses for right-click on a Mac. In fact, instead of me rewriting all of this, I suggest you visit this site, and read it thoroughly. Then I'd like you to provide a legit counter for each of the facts listed there. EDIT: And as to the "fantastic graphics software" I'd like you to read this review of a $3500 Mac's video card.

How many of the specific items (ignoring stricken out mistakes and only reading remaining text and corrections, as I'm sure you naturally would) are no longer applicable in 2011 for the iPad?

Rock, the Xoom has Flash. Flash is the one thing that Apple will never allow because they do not like it. The iPad will never have flash, and because of that the iPad 2 will never top an Android tablet. Who needs a dual core processor when one core is fast enough to run anything available? It's just stupid to buy something that will be outdated in a year in terms of hardware when you can spend the little extra cash and buy a much better product which is built to last.

yeah, apple isn't letting you run your own code, or something. so it is not really very good, there are way too many limitations. one of my brothers has an android phone, and also an ipad, the android can run things like pygame, which is pretty cool, so you could make your own games without having to buy a license, and stuff like this. I think it's a better idea to get a tablet running DOS, or android, they have some cool things.
I think the ipad 2 is kind of pointless, they should just update things and actually try to make a better PC, instead of just being in it for the money and making things shiny
