A game where you have to manage a country you create on several fronts, economically, politically, and military, to name some. However, this isn't just another wargame. In fact, it's much harder than in a wargame to research technology, create armies, and conquer enemy lands. YOu must focus much more internally to become the world's greatest superpower- or will you crumble into dust, forgotten? You must figure out your political system, military, and science, or you're primed for failure.
So, this game is fairly conplicated, but as I post turns, it won't be incredibly fast paced.
Rules: Country Creation: At the start of the game, you pick a small area of the world, and make that where your starting settlement is. You name your country and the starting ruler, and start making decisions from there. Your country starts with neutral politial leanings, neutral attitude, an average economy, and a small militia spread out throughout your starting settlement, of 10 swordsmen.
Politics and Research Rules: As the ruler, you get to make political orders, order technological work done, etc., but you can't precisely control where it goes from there- your people have attitudes, and if they get too low there may be revolts, and your politicians have minds of their own. You'll have to watch the consequences of your own actions. And you can't predict what and when your scientists will come up with for your research. We start in the Roman Age.
Military and Diplomacy: Getting a military is a harder process than in wargames- You can't just snap up an army. You may get people joining the militia, but probably not in the very beginning. You can make drafts, but those make people unhappy. You can have troops automatically allocated to fill army types, or you can manually allocate them once they come out of training. In battles, I will use the Warsim repeatedly, basing the bonuses upon research and army composition. In diplomacy, different countries will have different attitudes about different other countries. You will have to talk with them to ally them, establish trade routes, etc. And if they are angry enough at your country, they may attack it.
Turn Format: When I post your turn, your country's info will be in a spoiler. I will have information and statuses under the following categories: Political, Economic, Technological, Military, Diplomatic, and Other, but it will be rare for all of thm to be updated at once.
Anyway, I'm making a country. Name: Ro Ket Location: Eastern Coast of Italy, location of Modern-day Dublin. Ruler: Pilo Tan.

Do you mind if I join as follows?
Nation Name:
Geocentripetal Empire
Ruler Name:
Maximilian Veers
Location:
Same as modern-day Muscova (a.k.a. Moscow)
Naturally, I don't expect to have the entirety of what is now Russia or what used to be the Soviet Union: I only expect the portion of land around Moscow...
OK. Editing to post turn in a sec. We start out with an small area of land around our chosen locations.
Edit: OK, Maximilian Veers, we await your orders in the Geocentripetal Settlement. My orders for my country: The Celts are our neighbor, so... Contact Celts.

*Emperor Veers looks over the landscape of the Geocentripetal Empire. There are various houses and political buildings, although not of the same prestige as Rome. He decides that the ever-increasing population should have better homes than what they have, and more of them; as such, he encourages the construction of a good quantity of such nice homes...*
Let's employ the citizens by building houses for them and what children they will eventually have...
Izacque, you don't even have a large government or really many schools, it's just a settlement. And Qwerty, the emphasis in this game is the internal politics, not the military.

What happened to an update to reflect my order to keep people employed and make room for a larger population simultaneously by asking citizens to build houses?
Political Leanings: Neutral Economy: Average. Technological: No projects. Military: No conflicts. 10 swordsmen. Diplomatic: No relations. Population: 100 people. Other: Houses being built. The populace likes this, and their attitude is slightly happier. Attitude: Positive. Cities: Geocentripetal Settlement. Ruler: Maximilian Veers
Send out my most trusted advisor to find out: what kind of food storage do I have going on here? How big are the storehouses? How long will they last? What's in them? At what rate do the farmers fill them? Also, I order a census to be taken. I want to know percentages (or numbers) of the demographics of my population. I want to know what professions they hold, what percent have no profession? What percent are adult men, adult women, and children? Also, I want my scientists to file a report each turn on what they've done/tried to do.

*Æzerog Mærvoz looks around the country of Pastœlæ. This wasn't that much of a difficult feat, however. Pastœlæ was rather small... Anyways, schools of fish swam in the nearby ocean... Æzerog thinks they could feed us for years... But we need something to get us close to it. For now, we could just fish from the shore. He orders Üliog Pælœ to fish there. Æzerog also notices trees towards the setting sun... He orders ɶznæg Pælœ to cut the trees down and use them to make stuff that float and more houses. He also orders Ǣlazel Pælœ, the best swordsmen, to explore the area, for the morning, get back by the afternoon to report on anything unusual, then to patrol the perimeter of Pastœlæ to make sure wild beasts, and perhaps other men, don't attack.* Orders ɶznæg Pælœ is to cut down trees, make rafts, make houses Üliog Pælœ is to fish on the shore. Ǣlazel Pælœ is to explore the area for the morning, then get back in the afternoon to report on anything unusual, then to patrol the perimeter of Pastœlæ so the Pastœlæns don't get attacked by wild animals or people.
Oh, and we are Pastœlæns.
I should probably mention how Pastœlæ is organized.
Four people (Including Æzerog) are the "cœncæl". (Æzerog, ɶznæg, Ålazel, and Üliog) Æzerog is the leader of the cœncæl, and all four of them are good friends.
Each group with the same leader is called an Pælœ.
Ålazel is the leader of the military. 10 people, including Ålazel. This is the Ǣlazel Pælœ. ɶznæg and Üliog control 44/45 (respectively) people. ɶznæg and Üliog Pælœs. (OOC: Map please? Surrounding nations please? Oh, and we live in a sort of cove by the sea... I'll make a map of Pastœlæ sooner or later.) (March 21, 2011) How often will you update turns? (April 21, 2011) Fixed names. A couple slight changes makes the world go round!
And it caused Ålazel to become a female, which leads imply that all our swordsmen are really swordswomen. Huh.
Country: Grikkonia Current Leader: Emperor Grikkengon, the Second. Location: HELL In the modern day location of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Current Governmental System: Empire, ruled over by the ELECTED emperor.
Technology specialists Ekter and Uncter, please work on making us a star chart for navigational purposes. I leave my officers to oversee the planting of farms. Pests are to be killed on sight, thieves will be taken into custody. I instruct my villagers that we must collect essential supplies for houses, and that some area must be cleared for the village. I, myself, will assist with food supply collection, along with five of my soldiers. They can help hunt and forage, for now.
The national language of Pastœlæz is Ɔlæ and the so-called "Pastœlæic Settlement" is called Æzerog Pastœlæn. (Because Æzerog is the first letter of the alphabet. Who knew?)
The Grikkonians speak both Sentarian Imperial (which is actually quite close to english), and Kar'm'dreal (In Kar'm'dreal, the word Kar'm'dreal literally means "my nation's language"). All Grikkonian citizens must know how to read, write, and speak both.
