You should be able to get effect items. They would be sort of like Compo items, but would only last during one level. It would temporarily increase stats of a character, or heal them. (The healing item's effect would stay of course, unless it was used in conjunction with an LP item.)

No, it doesn't work that well. EG. castle boss.

I like this idea. Would help me beat some stages that I have trouble with.

I don't get what you're trying to say is bad about this idea.

Umm, wouldn't you have trouble against big bosses, no enemies to get powerups from. Or do they appear radomly/.

This sounds like a pretty good idea to me. It would require in-game decisions as to when to use them.

Umm, wouldn't you have trouble against big bosses, no enemies to get powerups from. Or do they appear radomly/. No it's more like an item in your inventory. You can choose to use it whenever you want. The effect lasts for only one stage.

Can you buy them. lol. You spend so musch money tying to defeat the boss before the update you don't have enough money to get it.

Sure, you do if you buy all of the weapons. If you farm for them you spend waaaay less.

None of them should be able to heal you. I have been long opposed to portable onigiri.

I wouldn't have enough space in my inventory.

Keep a separate inventory for these items?

No, too much bother and programing.

Have them in the same inventory. It stops people from going really OTT unless they need to.

It seems to have quite a point, as discussed here.

No but I need to collect stuff and I already have loads of stuff in my inventory.

Okay, and a lot of people do not, making this a valid strategy. It's a trade-off. Less inventory space for a temporary boost in performance. Just cause you don't want to use it doesn't make it useless; you could probably sell it.

This could work. Sort of like potions and stuff. Could have another 'town' level that sells them and certain enemies that drop these. Depending on level gives better boosts... sort of like a compo stone, but it doesn't take a slot. That's what I'm thinking.
