Haio. Today I was looking at the PGCB and came across a comment by a user by the name of おらりーめ with code #XnUxNOyt. It was posted 14:24 GMT on the 17th of this month. This is what it said:
This is quite interesting. I thought someone might try and go verify this and also check if it provides insight into DB-PAL. If not, it was still interesting.

Probably an error in translation. I remember when Ha55ii changed the logo to celebrate one million hits. Hits, not users.

700 million is more than half a billion. That's around 10% of the worlds population

I don't suppose that 10% of the Earth's Population even know it exists. Definitely something wrong in there.

Some people may have given it multiple hits, if it's possible. There also is the possibility of a translation error or just a flat-out lie.

Well, the earth's population will reach 7 billion sometime in July... I'm presuming that's the American billion which is 7 000 000 000... Mhm. Tenth of the population is very unlikely... More and more kids are playing PG these days, I only know 2 other people in my school that actually knows DB exists as a site... No, 1. The other just plays PG.

Artifact, I highly doubt one tenth of all people in the world have visited the site. Now, it's quite possible that a really small number of people are visiting the site very often, thereby bringing the number of hits up, as opposed to the number of visitors...

Even so, DB only got the one-millionth hit a couple years ago.

Wait wait wait, is this fabled 700 000 000 the amount of users or the amount of visitors or the amount of comments or what? It would help quite a bit to know exactly what DB has 700 000 000 of.

Nothing. It's just a translation error.

It's either fake or he means 700 Million visitors. I think the first one.

I guess that makes logical sense. Although, how bad can translators be?

It doesn't really matter if it has 700 million members, because only 7 million of them are not idiots.

I hope you realize that facebook is only just about to hit 700 million users.
It's 700 million page impressions.
Every time you visit the page, it's a page impression.
Either that or unique impressions, but that doesn't mean how many different users have gone on it, it means how many unique impressions there have been per 24 hours. So if I open a page 20 times over 3 days, it counts as 3 unique hits.
Those are the two common meanings behind the word "Hits." More often it's page impressions. If you look at the quoted comment, it sure doesn't seem like a translation error. Although the thread title definitely is.
700 million page impressions or unique impressions are both pretty impressive, but not outrageous.

Ah, so the time DB celebrated having the millionth hit was referring to users while this is 700 million page impressions? That makes sense, then.

The page impressions make sense. Because that many hits is very unlikely, but it could be a lie or a translation error.

Or Japs having strange new numbers that sound larger than they actually are...

Numbers are international. 700 million in one place is 700 million everywhere else as well. There is no country where 1+1=3.

I don't know. I bet Dan-ball has racked up that many hits. It's a hit counter, not an individual user counter, as far as I can tell. A regular user could add thousands of hits over a short period of time.

When I was uploading, I bet I at least refreshed the page or opened a new tab of it or something at least 15-20 times an uploading day, and that's at least 750 hits there, since I made about 50 uploads.
Edit: sorry, I forgot to put in that I've made about 50 uploads, thus the 15*50=750...

That would depend on your definition of hits. As Disabled said, there's a few other definitions.
Also, if you only loaded DB 15-20 times, that would be 15-20 hits max by any definition.
