Ok so if they made a downloadable version of powder game do you think it would work better as a ipod app or one of those portable software things like powder toy? Also what would have to be removed to make it work?

I am not sure what you mean by a portable software thing, but probably that. I think it'd be better if you could just download it, but it is alright being a web application.

it definitely wouldn't work as an iPod app, it's just not fast enough, and the screen is way too small. And you also need to realize that Java≠Whatever-iOS-is-Coded-in. It might work for iPad, because of the screen, if you could find a code monkey willing to convert everything.

It does seem to be the case that Android uses Java, however...

Still, it's not going to be that easy to use on such a tiny screen.

Well, there are Android tablets, aren't there? Or, there will be, pretty soon. But, I still do not know if it'd be a good idea, I think it's fine as a web game.

Android can be programmed in Java, but it doesn't use Java VM for licensing issues, it uses Dalvik. Also Android has no idea what a Java applet is, because it doesn't use the Java bytecode but Dalvik bytecode but also because it doesn't have an implementation for the applet API. So all the graphics calls would have to be adapted for android. But still, like 90% of the code could be reused. I actually looked into porting PG (or SR don't remember) to Android but stopped quite soon because the APIs are much different. But I'm not sure if it is possible to make it fast enough unless you manage to leverage the GPU for processing.

It would most likely be a download like the game 'Powder Toy'. It would be much more widespread and easier to use. the problem you encounter with apps is the processing power required. Sometimes, Powder game even tends to lagg on my own computer.

Ok several things, I have forgoten that I use a specal kind of powder toy. It is a unsuported Portable beta. Portable software is a software you could put on a disk, USB, etc and use it on any computer leaving little or no "footprint" on that computer. I am also sure that it could be done on the iPod, wether or not it will work well or be good is a different thing. Also I want to see MORE Baking soda/vinigar-like cemical reactions on powder game. Almost all reactions end with one of these: boom, electricity, disapering, burn, etc. However menchoned in another post of mine (I think it was in Powder Toy vs Powder Game) I have been searching for an ofline replacement for powder game (read post >/\) so I would most likely want a downloadable vestion. Also I want a full-screen powder game with more dots!
