Based upon my observation of both the IRC and Chatango clients, and seeing a few suggestions, I have decided to create a community poll on whether a Chatango or IRC client would be more viable for the forum.
Both clients have their key points and flaws as far as I have seen. Chatango obviously has more entertaining options when it comes to personal profiles and text effects, yet many times there have been glitches resulting in 'hexbans' or bots, including my inability to access Chatango any longer. IRC on the other hand does not have the fancier and glamorous features that Chatango has, yet in terms of security and functionality, I feel that IRC is in the higher field.
Again, these are just assumptions made by observation. You are welcome to add anything to my statements or correct anything. Thank you.

The main issue I have with IRC is that it isn't as good in terms of accessibility. We've tried IRC, and it failed. Simple as that. It isn't easy enough for forum users to visit it on a regular basis.
Plus the whole "you can change your nickname to anything you want and anyone you want" thing. That's annoying, too. And the fact that it vanishes if nobody is on it.

I voted IRC, just because I do not really like Chatango, but either one is fine. Whichever one is easier should probably be the one used.

I voted for Chatango for the same reason as Qwerty, IRC is a pain in the ass to visit on a regular basis. Also, its nice to be able to have the chat at the bottom of the page.

Of course, ideally there'd be a bot that can actually mix the conversation from both chats. It would scan the IRC and post the comments from IRC on the Chatango, and it would scan the Chatango and post the comments on IRC. With a decent host, there's no reason we can't have both.
EDIT: After being told about some really serious glitches by some chatbot programmers and being shown a good IRC client, I think that if we found the right network and host with chanserv and nickserv IRC might just work. So, I'm changing my vote. -1 from Chatango, +1 for IRC. It'd basically be the same as what we have now minus the pretty colors, avatars, and instant image/youtube hosting, as well as the hexbans.

I would have to agree with the report on chatbot problems and glitches. Also, is there by any chance a possibility we can find someone who could add those type of functions to a chat?

It seems that the votes are tied... With one person voting for neither... At any rate, I have a neutral view on this matter. I don't think there shouldn't be a Chat at all, or some wouldn't have a point to anything other than posting all day...

I maybe be a lazy cry-baby american, but being able to preview an image before I click it is something I'd sorely miss.

4 votes Chatango, 7 IRC. Seems IRC is well in the lead.

Of course, one thing I'll severely miss is EVERY FRIGGIN LINK GETTING COPIED TO THE CLIPBOARD. That was really annoying.

Quite a lively poll. The way it keeps going up and down, I'd say the vote should be made on the bases of a 2/3 majority.

No, there's no way a 2/3 majority can be reached. Simple majority is fine.
