I believe this thought has been raised before, but I'll raise it again anyways. Most of the badges I've seen created for the forum are of one or more of these categories: - Wrong dimensions
- Horribly aliased or not aliased at all
- Contain text differing from the originals
Honestly, rounded badges are tacky and do not fit evenly well into a tidy-looking signature. I propose that instead of using rounded badges, we use badges that resemble something like this. (Yes, I know it is bland and differs from many skins that forum users have chosen). Yet that leads to my next point. What if we were to make badges in those dimensions and create separate versions of them to match skins on the forum that users choose so that it is appealing to everyone. I am not sure how it would work, but it might resemble the coding used for each separate forum skin. I have never used badges, nor do I plan on using them, simply because they look distasteful and tend to clutter up my signature. At this point, I feel that some of the only decent-looking badges are the ones created by SwearingWorth who of course left a long time ago.

Hmm. I didn't really like circles that much, so I made that new set. I dunno which I like better, but yeah, the Shop Owner, Board Owner, and something else, those badges have wrong dimensions and different text. Of course, lots of people prefer circles, and that's their opinion, which you cannot change.

Sort of why they're called badges, but I see your point and really like the rectangle idea. Just that nobody has the time to make them. I also agree the badge standards aren't all that greatly enforced.

Well someone could just turn the badges we have now into a rectangle. That's kinda wha I tried to do, but I got lost somewhere.
But the 5 Badge in my sig is a good example of what could be.

We've actually already tried that idea. Nobody was up for recreating all the badges, so it was dropped. By all means if someone wants to make badges, go ahead. We can offer a rectangular option.

Likep, that will not work for every single badge. Some things like the Purple Heart. Furthermore, if we have only one person make them, it could be a little biased..

AP5, I see what you mean. Maybe we could just take the heart, and put it in a corner, and then give it a fancy purple gradient?

I personally prefer the organized rectangular shape instead of the circle. It just seems cleaner and more uniform to me, while also easier to separate text and art.
Maybe if someone makes this set of badges people could choose from which kind they preferred.

I think I could make them. I will attempt to do so tomorrow.
I will try to stay focused on making the originals into a rectangle, and not making my own designs.
