Made it in a class called Technology.

I did the same kind of thing in 6th grade. My bridge was about the same size, and it held 174 lbs. It was a record at the school that still hasn't been broken

Yeah, our bridges are going to be tested on Monday. So far, no one's bridge has cleared 80 lbs.

i did this last year, in a geometry class. my bridge held 105 pounds, it was pretty poorly built, so it was not very good. i think the top was around 160, or it might've been lower

Well, our class just finished yesterday, so we'll test on monday. Hopefully ours' will hold up better.

Good luck with your civil engineering design...

I helped test one of these at the last Science Olympiad. Held the full weight, however much that was. Actually, it was a tower.
Your design is interesting but looks a little heavy. Won't you get docked?

It may just be the angle. It's actually one of the lightest bridges in my class.

I found the remains of my bridge, and I used a Golden Gate Bridge kind of thing at the top, then I added a bar about in the middle, then made constant X's throughout the bottom half of the bridge. I don't know if you learned this, but the more triangles there are in a design, the more sturdy and strong it is. Also, did you design this bridge using CAD? I'll try getting a pic of my bridge remains soon...

Hm, that plan looks interesting. How'd it work out?

I set a school record, 175 lbs. Nuff said.

How did the testing go here? Beat the whole class?

I know. He said it sucked. Poetic justice.

Yeah, the machine was later revealed to be broken, so none of the scores were accurate.

well, that sucks... hopefully youll get to do a project like that again and get accurate results...

Doubt it, the project is only done by 8th graders.

Not in the high school level, it isn't. When you go to high school just sign up for Science Olympiad in your area. Go into this event.

8th graders? I think I'll have it next year then...

Well, this is just in my district.

So I guess I can't do it? Maybe luck in my engineering class next year...

I was just saying that that's when we do it here. It sounds like something you would do in engineering class.
