Hmm. Seems an awful lot like Help.

If teacher is the same as help, i should get the help badge (i made 5 tutorials: Minigames, Food, Grenades, Basics and Base Defence).

Indeed, you can have it.

Thanks. and here is an idea for another badge:
Creator: Start 10+ threads or polls.

but that is too easy, these badges should be somewhat challenging.

Well, we do not want to reward polls. We technically don't allow them. As for threads, anyone can make ten threads.
Maybe a reward for shopping? Like, a full-custom-profile badge for having a colored name, custom stars, custom title, the whole deal?

That sounds too easy

Maybe a reward for shopping? Call it 'Shopaholic'? Whenever you buy something overly expensive (such as 750 DB or more).

Maybe you must by at least one overly expensive thing to get it? After all, it may seem easy for us older members, but we're targeting the younger ones here. Maybe it's after you spend a certain number of dan-balls?

|
|
Post by Yonder on Jun 30, 2010 18:40:24 GMT
Maybe when you spent 1000 or 1500 DB?

Post by QwertyuiopThePie on Jun 30, 2010 20:59:01 GMT
That's a bit much to expect for what we have right now. You could probably get a full custom profile and everything without spending that much.

Well, I'll leave you to that since you know more than me about that. But you can't really have an 'achievement' type of badge without a rigid value (in this case being the DB spent). I don't like the idea of getting a badge just for a fully customized profile, though, since not everybody wants to do that.
On the other hand, a badge containing the vague idea of the Dan-Ball Shop is still available.

True, true. We tried and failed at a Shop Owner badge (I still dunno why that failed; it was a badge that required ability to achieve).

Well, the "Evil" badge is not an earnable badge, if I am not mistaken, and it seems that the qualifications for an "Insane" badge are too qualitative and not quantitative enough.
As for the "Elder" badge, that may actually be doable, but it's not something that will encourage newcomers to participate in the forum...

The evil badge isn't official. Memzak just has it because he says so. Insanity would be a case of judgment, not really anything tangible.
As for the elder, we already have vet.

The Dan-Ball Shop Owner badge probably failed because it takes a while to build up DB and thus there will be a series of periods where absolutely nothing happens in the thread and it could get boring.
I still like the Buying badge idea, with a set amount of DB spent. The bad thing is that how can we keep track of it? But the good thing about it is that it (sort of) encourages members to post more (and since useless posts have ahigher chance of getting deleted it brings in more qualitative posts).

Maybe i should make non-pointless posts like this to earn dan-balls. Everybody to the PG board!(read my tutorials: Basics, Minigames, Grenades, Food and Base Defence). EDIT: Here is something that makes this non-pointless: Gamer(Badge) Start a forum game(This is not very easy since you need to be creative) with at least 15 posts(your own will not count).

I like this. Put it up to 20 posts and think of a better name and it should work.

Start a forum game? It's been tried before. Too easy; anyone can do it. As for starting a popular forum game, it was debatable whether games made in the past should be counted. They obviously should, but still. Also people with multiple games, like VIROS or Archzero, and what counts as a game (eg, counting game?). There is also the number-of-pages-for-popularity issue.

Well I can't think of anything else or how to fix the Gamer badge idea. We already covered just about everything with the current available badges, so it's kind of hard.

What types of Games should be permissible? Probably an RPG-based adventure or strategy game that has lasted for a month since the first unique join (i.e. from the first time someone other than the creator posts in it to join the game) without more than three days of inactivity, excluding inactivity resulting from an explicit catch-up game pause. The game would have to have been made in this or the quasi-official forum, and games made before the creation of the badge should be valid qualifications, assuming all other aforementioned tests are passed. A user can only have one Gamer badge, regardless of the positive number of passing forum games made.
Two games that I'm sure would result in such a badge would be the original Tephanis Grasp game and NGI, as well as some other games...

No, not that. It should go by pages, not time, or games in summer have an unfair advantage. I guess we can judge individually. Anyway, the original Nonja Invasion game would earn a badge, and Nonja Invasion V.2. Planetary Warfare is debatable, but I think it deserves one. Any other ideas? If we have them we can send out the announcement. In fact, maybe we should have a static announcement for graphic and code requests and commissions from staff?

Yes, gregg. One-worded posts are against the rules of the forum. Making anymore one-worded posts will result in a slight increase on your warning bar.
