I think they should be given out for 1 month a year, and you just ask for the badge representing your favorite game. Should your favorite game happen to change, you can always change the badge, just as long as you got one.
Maybe the PG Badge should be for PG fans (M4 is an example) and the SR Badge for SR fans (OBG or GamesExploit are good examples) And for EE...
Oh wait, i got another idea for requirements: PG: Have at least 5 Elements as well as Non-Elements approved (for example: 3 Non-Elements and 2 Elements) SR: Suggest at least 3 things (compo items, classes etc) EE: Have at least 3 Elements as well as Non-Elements approved (for example: 4 Elements and 1 Non-Element)
And if someone applies for 2 or for all 3, he may choose the one he most likes. And, to Rock!: Nice Badges, maybe you can be the new Swearingsworth
But I designed those badges because there's not exactly a whole lot of stuff related to dan-ball, so I wanted them to be earned easily, but just not all the time. I think they should be released for all of October, then released in April 2011 to celebrate Dan-Ball, and then continue to be available in April every year.
And Qwerty, you can get ONE of the three badges. It is impossible to have more than one. You must pick your favorite, post on the badge list, and voila, you have ONE of the three badges.
Why not make the choice of badges available for a user for every 3 months the user remains on the forum? In order to keep an accurate track, we would base time relative to the date the profile indicates, even though that may be years after the user originally joined.
I would like to re-submit my Gamer Badge and my Original Member Badge, as well as the Member Badge. I made a few changes to make them look more like the rest of the badges Swearingworth made.
And I was looking through the older posts of this thread and found the idea of a Shopper Badge. I think this is a good idea and meets the criteria of being impossible for new members to obtain. I'll work up a design. Should be done later today.
EDIT: Hmm...seems the Member Badge is too small. I'll make a bigger one later.
EDIT EDIT: Fixed
EDIT EDIT EDIT: I think the Graphic Artist Badge is a little illegible, so I re-did that too.

I have seen suggestions for Shopper Badge requiring one to spend 1000 Dan-Balls, requiring one to spend 2000 Dan-Balls, and requiring one to buy all customizable features of the mini profile. Scanning through the thread, I saw no official approval for any of those.
Hmm...if only I had Photoshop. Might be tricky, but when Christmas rolls around and if I get Photoshop, I might be able to do that. But I don't think I'd be able to dot hat with GIMP. I'll try, but I don't think so.
Wait, I'm confused-in your other post you're talking about skins, and now you're talking about how badges are earned. I assumed you wanted my to make the various Staff badges using the design of the Admin badge, but with different colors.
I'm sure you could do that with gimp.... Just colorize it... :3 (thats the lazy way though)
As to the mod and global mod badge, I disprove. We already have the staff badge to mark you as staff and the admin badge to mark you as high staff. We don't need to make any more badges to get specific.
... but I like your gamer, original member, member and shopper badge and if the shopper badge is made official (for spending 1K or 2K) I'll be sure to add it. (as I like it... :3)
The evil badge isn't official. Memzak just has it because he says so. Insanity would be a case of judgment, not really anything tangible.
As for the elder, we already have vet.
I already have an Evil and Crazy badge, and they are NOT official. Let me repeat. NOT official. I just keep them because Samus/Exartha made it and I wanted to keep something to remember him by. (Come on be honest, how many people here remember him)
EDIT EDIT EDIT:
The graphic artist and original member badges seem a bit out of place. I think they should be vertically centered, to look more in place.

Memzak has some rather valid points. I don't think we need many staff badges, as that would just be spoiling us when we already have two badges that ought to comfortably suit us. Staff are also supposed to be limited in number, so it only makes sense that staff ought not to have a disproportionate number of badges. As Memzak said, "we don't need any more badges to get specific."
I also agree with his point concerning the vertical alignment of badges...
