That works, but this should be the last badge for awhile. That way we can announce the new badges and pay you.

Yea, with the large influx of badges, members can't keep up. (some of them) I like the new variety but if we have too many badges, the forum badge system can get a bit too complicated.

Yeah, OK. I've got to start designing TSL's icon set for his forum.

It's nice to see someone who's so passionate about making graphics for people.

We really need a 30-badge boost. Something awesome. Party? Make an announcement celebrating them for a day?

Party thread linked to by an announcement for a day? Sounds special. I guess that is a nice boost. Perhaps we could even get a cake that is not a lie? Although we need others to agree or come up with better ideas first.
To see what's out there and to see what others think.

That sounds great, but I think there should be a badge boost along with it.

Hmmm... To be honest I'm not sure. I think the next custom badge made official boost should be at 40. Otherwise, why not have one at 10?
(I like your badge though and I'll keep it as unofficial)
That's what I think.

That's why this is not a custom badge boost. Each boost should be unique.

Would a half-price, quarter-price, or free custom member board be good for a badge boost, or must the boosts relate directly to badges?

|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Oct 14, 2010 5:02:56 GMT
The problem is that most people who reach 30 badges probably would have earned both the board owner and the 10K DBs Badge.
Although I like the idea of something like that. Quarter price for the Custom Member Board if you have reached 30 badges. I like it.

Oh, and SR special board access. Maybe for 40 badges we can have an honorary membergroup or something.

Maybe. But I like the idea of subsidized costs for 30 badges.
Who agrees?

Yeah, sounds good, and again, chatter badge?

15 Badges Badge: Earn at least 15 Badges.
Typetacular: Write at least 6 Stories.

Sorry Artifact, but Qwerty already said no more new badges. And theres no 15 badges badge because the # badges go up by 10, with the exception of the 5 badge, which was to get people started.

Subsidized costs? Do you mean like everyone with the 30 milestone gets a discount on all future shop purchases, boards excluded?
As to 15 posts, what Rock said, and as to Typetactular, we already have Story.

We already have the Story badge, agreed. And I also think (with the exception of the 5 badge) that we only go up in badge number badges up by 10.
I also think that we shouldn't suggest new badges until next year. As we have enough already.

Agreed, should I temporarily lock the thread?
And is the Chatter Badge approved or denied?

We're still deciding on the last badge and how much to pay you, so nothing there yet. Personally, I approve the Chatter badge.

I'm not sure I approve of the Active Chatter Badge, as that would be more difficult to monitor on a dynamic chat than a static forum whose posts remain indefinitely.

|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Oct 19, 2010 10:52:09 GMT
I disapprove. (if that counts for anything)
We already have the active badge and the chat's history does eventually get deleted.
|
|
|
Post by Qwerty on Oct 19, 2010 14:10:49 GMT
We don't have any reward whatsoever for using the chat. The chat history doesn't matter, and it's nothing like the active badge. The active badge is for activity on the forum, not the chat.
It would be just as easy to monitor as the "Active" badge. If they are active on chat, they get the badge. Simple.

I guess we can instate the Chat Badge, then, although I'm not too particular about it...

|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Oct 19, 2010 17:21:45 GMT
Meh. I always thought of the chat as a side-attachment-to-the-main-attraction-which-is-the-forum.
It would have been more simple to simply have the active badge count for both chat and forum. I mean the forum was here way before the chat. Oh and what if someone is active in a different timezone? In which case the chat history does count as there are big gaps in time when the staff aren't on.
Just sayin.

Post by Qwerty on Oct 20, 2010 5:29:25 GMT
No, not really. There are people that use the forum and not chat, people that use the chat and not forum. They are certainly at about the same activity, and the fact that people use the chat and not the forum at times would be enough to show it isn't really an "extra" or an "add-on", like dan-balls. It has importance in its own right.
We can always ask around to see if they are active there anyway.

|
|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Oct 20, 2010 17:43:29 GMT
True, except if the people only use the chat and not the forum, how would we award them the badge?
|
|
|
Post by Qwerty on Oct 20, 2010 22:35:53 GMT
Some of them do have forum accounts that they just don't use.
|
|
|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Oct 21, 2010 8:19:02 GMT
Some of them don't have accounts. And if they do have accounts with all 0 posts, no-one would ever see the badge ever anyways. (Too bad we didn't have miniature badges that could fit in the live chat... (AKA, too bad we don't have a custom live chat)
|
|
|
Post by Qwerty on Oct 21, 2010 14:17:08 GMT
And those that don't use the forum wouldn't need the badge anyway. We should certainly reward community activity, instead of just forum activity. That is what really matters. If someone is active on the forums and still finds time to chat, yay.
