I like it but powder would be better, I mean not very many people like stickranger as much as powder.

The very point of well-rounded is that it covers more than the "more popular" areas.

I can't think of a name for this, but what about one where you post in every board viewable from the home page, and none of the posts are spam? Yes, this Well-Rounded Badge sounds like a good idea and would increase awareness of other boards that exist, rather than just the popular ones. What about in the case of the Other Games board, which is incapable of being posted in, but has many sub-boards? I assume those sub-boards must also be visited in order to fulfill the badge requirement?

Post by Qwerty on Jun 1, 2011 0:16:56 GMT
Not also. Posting in a sub-board counts as posting in a board, and as such you only have to post once in each board or one of its subboards visible from the home page.

well, the main point of the badge was just filling the front page with your username. It's a case of the name fitting the badge rather than the badge fitting the name if that makes any sense.

I'm not familiar with traveller, but I voice my acceptance of the well-rounded badge, as well as Rush Hour on the condition that its no more than 20 posts/hour. Also, every post has to be meaningful.
It doesn't serve its purpose if you have to work so rapidly that you're more or less spamming, and you have to give a wide margin for people who can't type rapidly or simply have crappy internet. Also, you have to keep in mind the ability to moderate it; if the number isn't reasonable, nobody is going to want to verify that the badge was earned.

So I think it's safe to say "Well Rounded" is a go: For | Against | izacque | Rock | qwerty | | Veers | | Fox | |

Was the table really necessary?

vs. They both seem nice to me. Should a challenge be set up?

No, give them a choice between the two if they win, or make 1 of them the first and the other the second if they manage to do it again, I like them both, anyway I said powder because it is the most popular java game.

Yesh, the table was 100% necessary. Also, I would like a challenge thread made. I point to one design feature in particular that my badge has that rock's lacks that I think is essential in a badge of this type.
This isn't a badge about playing all the danball games. It's a badge about posting in every board. That's why I have one danball game, a contest cookie, a yen (used in the shopper badge), and a musical note (arts, etc.) If I could, I'd add more, but that'd make the badge more cluttered. Also, non-essential to the badge, but still important, I think that the forum-tan looks better than poop-brown.

Wow, okay, well, we're the Dan-Ball Forums, so it kind of makes sense to have that than i shrunken cookie and a ¥. And it's not "poop brown", its the modified globe showing the south pacific.

so, can I make the challenge thread? or does it need to be made by staff?

Post by Rock on Jun 1, 2011 19:41:41 GMT
By all means, go ahead.

Post by izacque on Jun 1, 2011 22:03:50 GMT
mmkay, you can just post your case in the thread and I'll add it to the OP.
Post by Rock on Jun 1, 2011 22:06:59 GMT
Case? And what is an OP? Izacque, Badge Challenges work by posting the badge and then letting other members decide which is better.

Post by Qwerty on Jun 1, 2011 22:13:47 GMT
OP stands for Original Post.

Oh, well I could've added it in myself regardless.

I got an idea what about a matyr badge, you are nominated by a member for helpfulness and stuff like that.
Post by Rock on Jun 3, 2011 10:43:50 GMT
No. This has been suggested numerous times in various forms, and been rejected every time. Do you even know what a martyr is? Because it is not anywhere near the description of your badge.
Post by izacque on Jun 3, 2011 13:46:00 GMT
We already have a helpful badge.
Post by Alonso on Jun 3, 2011 13:59:51 GMT
Yes, I know what a martyr is. Sorry for doing one that has been done apparently neuromous occasions.
Post by izacque on Jun 3, 2011 14:12:59 GMT
A badge for "martyrs" would be kind of subjective.
Post by Qwerty on Jun 3, 2011 14:20:42 GMT
Martyr. Not a chance.
Post by Rock on Jun 4, 2011 1:24:10 GMT
And anyway, a martyr is someone who was killed for their beliefs, usually an excuse fore rallying, protesting or rebellion. How that relates to your badge description, I don't know.
Post by Qwerty on Jun 4, 2011 22:49:36 GMT
A badge for martyrs would be pointless (they'd be gone anyway) and a badge for being helpful already exists.

A badge for lurking on Chat for some very long time...? Maybe... 10,000 minutes? Chat Lurker. Simply another suggestion... Also, a question about the Virtual Cookie badges, do we exchange a number of them for the other Cookie badges? Or do we keep the Virtual Cookies and the other new badge as well? If we do exchange them, wouldn't it be easier for a person to simply hold onto a large number of Virtual Cookies to add to their Badge Count?
