You enter this world with the key of a "Next" sign. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of Nonjas, a dimension of torture, a dimension of ramen. You're moving into a land of both shadow and light, of evil and armies. You've just crossed over into the Parallel Universe! I daresay you messed up it's potential future pretty well in the process.
In the regular Nonja universe, Temporarily9 went on to conquer that island and its inhabitants. In some cases he even spread his might throughout the world, even the galaxy. This is not that universe. Here is a chance to fight back, to eliminate the problem at its very root. Should you fail, this universe shall also fall to the Nonja overlords, and this time there shall be no Nonja Fighters, no Shadowlorian federation, no rebel fleet to wipe them out. With the might of Stick Ranger at their backs, their opponents will stand no chance. Should you fail, this universe will fall to the Nonjas as well.
Yep, this is the long-awaited-by-some-and-totally-unknown-by-others NI:O. It takes place around the time that Temporarily9 first discovered the island that would later become the Nonja island. in fact, it takes place at that exact time.
The rules are simple. Don't be a powerplayer, don't be a godmodder, and don't pull an ArchZero and pull an army and a castle out of who-knows-where. As this is a parallel universe, the outcome is not necessarily tied to the story, although it will have parallels drawn there. You can read the original story here.
Note that as the Nonjas do not exist until the game 'properly' starts, anyone wishing to become a Nonja may either enter the game when the Nonjas do, be a townsperson that later becomes a Nonja, or be a townsperson that is killed and then get a new Nonja character.

I was once innocent.
Once, a long time ago. Back when I still knew my family. Back before I can even remember. Of course, that was brought to a quick end. The Nonjas, they took care of me. They showed me the true way. They gave me a life I never could have had with those poor sacks of worm food. With them, I would have been a lowlife like all those other non-Nonja scum. With them, I have become a Captain, and an expert at computer engineering and design.
They brought me in, gave me a name. They trained me well. Our army of mercenaries should be practically unstoppable with the level of training that we undergo. Should be, but aren't. Not yet. Our numbers are too low, and we kill our victims, instead of properly enjoying their cries in one of our torture chambers, or recruiting them. Our numbers have fallen, and I'm not certain how much longer we will be able to go on like this.
Fortunately, I have a feeling this mission will save us all. We're taking one of our cargo ships (disguised as a banana shipment, of course) to Los Angeles. There, we will meet with a benefactor that claims to have the resources to save us, in numbers and in weaponry. Once we have taken his resources by force and killed him, we will head back to our fleet.
Right now, we're pausing for shore leave. There seems to be some sort of island in the distance that isn't on our maps, but I'm sure it's just a cloud. There aren't many islands here, far off of the coast of Mexico, but there are a few.
Ah, I am almost out of time. I need to get above. We're testing out our new 'special' weapon system, and that should result in a fireworks display I wouldn't miss for... well, the world.

Well, journal, today has been a fun day. I had an opportunity to take a break from my special project to play golf with Charles. He still has a great swing, even if leading our little city has taken a chunk out of his practice time. I lost, of course. Charles suggests that I spend less time in hidden areas piecing together copper, silicon, and steel, but the project is too important for me to delay it any further.
The special project is also going along nicely. The computer systems are entirely installed, and simply require activation, testing, and security installation. I can easily take care of that tomorrow. For tonight, I need to rest. I have ensured that the steel walls are intact, the security system is active, the elevator is locked, the weapons are ready, and I didn't accidentally leave the TV on again.
I've been wondering recently about whether or not investing my lottery winnings in such a place and relocating to this hidden island was a good idea. I don't know why; it's obvious that it is. After all, everyone is out to get a lottery winner. I'm too tired to discuss this tonight at any rate. Goodnight, journal. I can only hope that by next week I can have the Inner Sanctum fully installed and ready for use.
This is just prep. T9 talks about his life as a Nonja, Qwerty about his progress on the Inner Sanctum.
