The ''Oasis'' skin which is to be released on November 3rd, will break and destroy many pages. It will put more ads on the site and in the content area. The max page size is 660 pixels. The skin will remove the abillity for admins to customize the CSS. You should switch.

Well, not really an ALERT, but certainly a suggestion. Are there any alternatives?

Expert CSS designers can update the way the wiki looks to them individually by editing the following site:
http://danball.wikia.com/wiki/User:YourUserName/style.css
Note that, where it says YourUserName, you should instead replace it with your actual user name, just in case there's someone who didn't already know that.
As for editing the look of the wiki for all users, it seems that an Admin will have to use the Theme Designer, which seems to work for editing Oasis according to images on the help page.

My suggestion is we move to somewhere like this: disabled.zzl.org/wiki/Of course this is just a temporary location...

Naturally it would be necessary to move every page on it somehow, and probably keep the old one up.

I suggest that, before people start moving the site purely for aesthetics, we attempt to modify the site's skin. If it can be done to satisfaction, since there will still be a skin editor, then by all means there is no reason to go through the trouble of moving.

Um, the skin will remove CSS customization options. The TOS forbids editing it in any way except its color.

Do you mind if I ask for a link and quote? On the Terms of Use page at www.wikia.com/Terms_of_Use, I only see that such editing may not affect the display of advertisements.

@fireball I didn't really understand you. First, I don't want the wiki to "move to my page". I (or someone else) should register a new hosting account and host it there. I don't want any attention, I don't want any views(?), I don't even have a real page myself hosted there. And getting the threads there shouldn't be that much a problem. danball.wikia.com/wiki/Special:StatisticsYou can get a Database dump there. Currently its quite outdated, but since other wikia wikis have recent backups, I think mailing the wikia guys would solve the problem (they write about a button to create recent dumps, but I didn't find it). The only real problem is, the admin of the page would need to be trusted and competent. Trusted because if he wanted, he could log all the passwords entered. And competent, because he would have to keep the mediawiki software updated for security reasons. I could provide the competent part and I would say I'm trustworthy, but your opinion might differ. And if someone else wants the job, I'm not too keen on doing it, because it means more work for me. The Pros for moving are: no ads, full control over the wiki, no problems creating (recent) backups. The Cons are finding an admin who keeps it running. IMO.

Why would disabled want something as mundane as viewers? He certainly didn't make the ODBF backup for views.

Guys! You can change the skin via preferences.

For now, yes, but the questions are: - Will those options still be available after the expiration date comes?
- Will the wiki still be able to make its custom skin the default skin that users see, instead of the monstrosity known ironically as "Oasis"?

Has anyone noticed a big trend in these solid shades of blue and thick headers and very basic shapes for style?
It's like twitbook only worse.

sandmaster You are saying that we need to change the Wiki Skin? Or something else? I prefer the basic style. I even prefer the original proboards skin over this forum's unique ggoodie (coldfusion)'s skin.

Concerning the forum skin, is it for the same reason that diabled prefers a "lighter" skin?
Concerning the wiki, Sandmaster is comparing it to "Twitbook," which I presume to be a combination of Twitter and Facebook, saying how cliche the UI is...

Why not just give us a normal proboards skin as an option? But nope, you have to give us 1 god damn skin. It's an option It wouldn't hurt anyone...

I'm pretty sure I described somewhere why this was a problem, if not to you. I'll see if I can't find it... EDIT: Read everything from this post downward, that way we don't end up repeating that same discussion here.
