Well I don't like high-speed mode either, because its less thinking and more clicking. I used all three items in the last 30 (real time) seconds or so because I couldn't really handle it too.

My record on hard is 4221. That sound like little, but that is 200th place of all hard records.

On any level, or just Hard and/or High Speed? If it's on high speed, I guess I can understand your problem, but for most of the other levels, it can be quite easy (although time consuming if untrained) to determine the location of bombs.

Have you played the original minesweeper before?
If not try it out, it should help you. The more practice you get the better you become.

After playing Minesweeper for a long time (internet outages), I can say that I have come back to this way more well-prepared.

My record on minesweeper regular is: 7 for beginner, 85 for intermediate, and 246 for hard. I'm an avid player of the dan ball version too, and have gotten in the top 100 on hard.
