I thought it was about time to check up on the forum. Beside looking deader then normal nothing have really changed. Seem like someone change the password to the special board not that it matters, the only useful piece of information on that board that wasn't just a tease was the tutorial that I made myself. Seeing how I was the one who made it I am pretty sure I know how to do it. A kind user gave me the new pass though the board could use some more updates. I sadly haven't learn anything worthwhile to report myself.
Anyway time to recreate my old guide which basically told which compo items look good but were awful for VS mode and which may look bad but turn out to be pretty decent.
Assuming you only use the best of the best. Bullet's Card for example depends on your weapon. I recommend using the wikia unless you happen to be in the mood to grind for something which you may not even need.
Gladiator be shorten to Glad, Magician be shorten to Mage just to make it easier to type for myself. To compare a White Stone give 30 SP worth of LP to a melee unit while even more to any other unit. Anything less will be red. Anything between a White Stone and a Catapult's Card (50 SP) will be yellow while anything that is worth at least a Catapult's Card or priceless shall be green.
Quick's Card
Generally only the range units even have the slow weapons that require a speed boost but a Catapult's Card give 50 SP right away making anything in yellow just as bad as the red. Unless you use the single Gunner's weapon or one of the slow orbs you should just ignore the card altogether.
NOTE: Gunner use an odd math problem for Agi compared to other classes and I am far too lazy to create a chart. Though this chart is comparing the SP worth with the other classes meaning the chart work for what I wanted this doesn't mean using 45-90 SP will have the same outcome as using the Quick Card in the case of the Gunner. You have been warned.
Long Sword's Card
Honestly this card can do that SP can't. Sadly that don't make it good. The time you save by walking could been used on a Black Crystal or on a White Stone. I honestly don't see how this card can be useful as comparing to a range unit it is worth 8 SP in range. Sound like a total waste doesn't it?
Catapult's Card
50 SP worth of range is great. Generally one of the best cards you can use. Angels can only toss out so many rings at once so this card will only weaken them.
Pierce's Card
Useless.
Guide's Card
Priceless. The Thunder Spear pretty much required this card when it was huge in VS mode. I haven't been messing around on VS mode lately but Electric Shock don't seem to require the card to be the great weapon that it is. Regardless when a weapon do use this card then it should be the first compo item that comes to mind.
Bullet's Card
Godly but not as godly as people make it out to be. Lets do some basic math. 100% added to something is double right? So lets average out the Electric Shock damage to 10.5 then double that to 21. Now lets remove the card to make it 10.5 again to add a Topaz which average out to 11. 10.5 become 21.5 which isn't much of an improvement but still prove my point. Double of nothing is still nothing. If the weapon don't do huge amount of damage then try looking at the jewels. Regardless this is a great card but sometimes simple math can show that there are better compo items if you don't get blinded by the high looking numbers.
Explosion's Card
Most decent teams don't put all of their eggs into one basket. Splash damage on one enemy is useless damage.
Critical's Card
Does not effect elemental damage. When was the last time you even looked at your normal damage output?
Berserk Card
In theory giving Bill 10 apples to get 10 apples is pointless and make this card useless. The thing you got to remember though is that speed is everything on VS mode. Your range units are dead anyway as soon you lose your tank but during that time they shouldn't be taking much damage. Having a huge power boost over the other team may make this the winning compo item though only range units can successfully use it. Electric Shock from the Bullet's Card example would do about 26 damage which is much more then what the Bullet's Card or even Topaz can give but remember that you will take twice the damage yourself. If you fight someone with enough range to attack without moving then you will die sooner then normal making this a wasted slot.
Vampire's Card
In the time you take to do one physical hit the enemy just did 20 magical ones. How long VS mode matches last you will be better off with a White Stone. This card isn't worth anything.
ONIGIRI's Card
Hahahahahahahaha!
Gold rush Card
Hahahahahahahaha!
Zombie's Card
Remember on the Bullet's Card I told you don't pay any mind to the big numbers? As of right now fire isn't that big as Thunder is the current thing. Still to have this be worth more then a White Stone you will need 600+ LP. Any less then you will be taking the fire weakness for no reason. Lets assume you have a Glad at lv61. He is a tank with a non-magical weapon (stupid idea but this is just an example anyway) 60 level ups times 2 is 120 times 10 would make it 1200 LP. Not hard to achieve and 1.5ing that would make it 1800 which is worth 2 White Stones. Totally worth it currently but depending on your own LP and the way VS mode treat fire weapons only you can tell if you should use this compo item or not. As of writing this the compo item is worth it.
Big Card
Honestly I still don't fully understand why this card exist. As far as I can tell it is the Long Sword's Card only worst. Black Crystal and White Stone can easily do more then what this card can save.
Stones
Unlike the others I made the best stone for that class green but normally all stones would be yellow. This may seem confusing at first but the fact that stones give both basic stats and LP that means each stone have different values depending to the class. A way to explain is like this: A dollar is a dollar no matter how you look at it but to a beggar it would be worth more compare to a rich person. LP is worth much more to the range classes compare to the melee classes. If you can work it out then you could give a Glad 40 SP worth of stats/LP by giving him a Black Stone. Sadly it really depends how useful it is if you could use that Dex in the first place. One could say 100 SP into a Priest Mag is worth less then 100 SP into the Priest Str. I just giving the values as it is, it is your judgement if it is truly worth getting a Black Stone over any other stone.
ONCE AGAIN everything on this chart would normally be marked yellow. Hopefully you won't have to debate over which stone you want in the first place as there are better compo items that you can use.

Freeze Charm & Ice Charm
Ice Charm may have potential in the future but as of right now you be better off with something else. Freeze Charm is pretty much useless and everybody knows it. You will rarely see VS mode team try to freeze someone.
Poison Charm
This would be green once a charm exist that have 100% protection. As of now it is yellow as generally only tanks may want to use this. If only we had three compo slots. Right now VS mode seem to be moving away from poison. If you don't have it then a poison team will kill you easily but if you do have it and the team isn't using poison then it would be a wasted slot. I am personally waiting for the point where they make new charms that protect against ice and poison or even all aliments. Depending on the rank on VS mode and the current trend you may want to skip this or take the "better safe then sorry" route. As if writing this I believe you can get away without it on rank 8.
Black Crystal
Block both physical and magical damage and with the current one blocking 50% of the damage this is pretty much a must have compo item for a tank. Note it pretty much double your LP, lets assume you have 1000 LP and the enemy does 10 damage per hit. If we double your LP you can take 200 attacks. Now lets do the 1000 LP with 50% of the attacks being blocked, you would be able to take 200 attacks once again. This is better then a White Stone and Zombie's Card put together assuming you only have 1000 LP which the outcome would be 1950. Even if your LP become higher the Zombie's + White Stone combo only become weaker where the Black Crystal only become better. Simply put if you even thinking about increasing your health and you don't have a Black Crystal on you then you shouldn't even touch any other compo items until you get one. It almost safe to say that this is the best general compo item that exist in the game.
Silver Crystal
This have the same worth as a Priest using 12 SP into Dex. If you even thinking about using this then put a Black Stone on a Priest for almost the same effect but for your full party. This compo item is a waste of space.
Red Crystal
Right away this item only give 5-15 meaning the highest value can only be 15 SP. Try using a Red Stone (25 SP + some LP) before this.
Yellow Crystal
Don't effect magical damage, nuff said. Could potentially be in the green as it would be like 60 SP spent on a Priest Aura if you find a powerful enough physical weapon. Even so you got to remember that 60% of nothing could still be nothing. Like 100 damage would only become 160 for that single character alone. Try using a Priest if you want a power boost.
Purple Crystal
Surprised! Poison Charm is yellow yet this is green, how can this be? This reduce the time of effects by half (as with the current highest compo item) and reduce magical damage (the meat of VS mode) also by half. This is a weaker Poison Charm fused with a weaker (not by much) Black Crystal making a pretty useful item. Sure you may be poisoned sometimes but the damage and time will be reduced by half where before using the Poison Charm may or may not be useful depending on who you are fighting where this item is always useful though weaker. This plus Black Crystal will truly make your tank a true tank.
Emerald
Most players don't put all of their eggs into one basket. So mostly you only have a tank and maybe a mage with a Poison Charm. If you do decide to use a poisoner (hopefully a Sniper) then you really can't lose with this item. I say if you going to use poison then that should be your main goal. Don't have a poison Sniper just to make him a normal attacker, there are better weapons that can be used for that. If your poison attack was only 1 it would take 100 SP on a Priest Str to increase it to 2. This item basically save you a character slot or gave an invisible Priest for your poison Sniper. However you wish to look at it, this item is totally worth it.
Ruby
Average out to 7.5 damage added. Assuming the magical damage was 5 at the start then that would be like 150 SP into a Priest Str for that character without having a Priest. Would be even more if the magical attack was less then 5.
Sapphire
See Emerald and Ruby to see why these items are so valuable. Average out to 16 damage added.
Topaz
See Emerald and Ruby to see why these items are so valuable. Average out to 11 damage added.
Peridot
With Poison Charm you will be lucky to make a hit sometimes. I recommend going for Emerald first but if you already have that then this may do great damage with it. While useful I sadly can't make this green, there are simply better items then this though as stated with Emerald I recommend that if you going to make a poison Sniper then you should focus on the poison.
