E.T.L. - Life in Our Universe. Do you people believe it?
I don't need changing of my ideas. I am just completely dumbfounded that the forum discusses the debate of Religion clashing with Science over possible life outside our Solar System. I believe that there is life other than ours in the universe. The life of earth is extremely diverse. The chances that life exists elsewhere. In the trillions of planets. Is in my mind, well in 99%. And beyond...
Well, what do you think? I don't believe in any of those blurry videos. But, any government conspiracy, or alien life form beaming cattle in their cars seems pretty far fetched. I still find it plausible. There are "millions" of sightings each year. And, there are "millions" of documents and photos and videos. Although we may not HAVE proof. I still think it's impossible to deny that we are not alone in the universe. And to believe otherwise seems a very far fetched leap of faith indeed.

It is very very unlikely for life to just appear on a planet. But given the huge amount of planets, it still is likely that some have some kind of lifeforms. But the universe is damn huge. And the probability that any kind of life form evolves "near" us is very very low. So we will probably never ever ever see extra terrestrial life and will never visit them and will never get in contact with them... unless there is a way around relativity theory, which is very unlikely, especially in your life and the life of your grand children.

That is totally off topic. We are discussing the existence of life, not if we will ever contact an intelligent lifeform...

Is it so hard to ignore the second related part of my post? I clearly stated that it is likely there is ETL.

What does that have to do with anything, most of your post 'was' off topic. I'm just saying what's the possibility of life outside of earth. Anything that lives, like single celled organisms. In fact. I think we already discovered proof. The mar's meteorite scraped off the North Pole. With the single celled bodies.

Dude, if you want off-topic discussion, then answer to the off-topic part of the only guy who has posted in this thread. If you want an on-topic discussion, then ignore the off-topic part and answer to the on-topic part. If you completely want to derail the thread, then do as you did and start discussing if off-topic discussions make sense. BTW: Why is this on-topic and my statement about the possibility of ETL on earth not?
My statement was: "Its likely there is ETL, its unlikely we will know for sure and certainly not meet them on earth."
On-Topic: Do you have a link that mars meteorite?

I think we already discovered proof. If that is your proof... thats pretty slim. I hope you noticed the question mark in the headline and one half says "it may be" the other half says "it is not a sign"... I don't say it isn't a sign of ETL, but its far from being proven.

It was on the surface of ice, the closest actual bacteria being underground. Near 1000's of yards. And there are bodies of dead single celled oranisms, now they say that the bacteria is similar to some of Earth's. What if Earth got the Bacteria from Mars?
