The skin is not showing up, displaying image unavailbe everywhere, and is overall making the forum UNUSABLE. This needs to be fixed NOW.

I don't seem to be having a problem, but you're right: this is something that needs done ASAP.
What image hosts should we use?

Imgur permits rehosting images that have already been uploaded to the Web. Would that be sufficient to circumvent our problem, or would the imgur link just redirect to the tinypic link, which would still refuse service to non-Americans?
Also, it seems that ImageBam only supports *.jpeg and *.gif, whereas imgur supports four and will convert four more into *.gif upon uploading.

I think tinypic has changed back now. It seems they realised their mistake.
Although it was very bad looking for nmagain, ganon and I. I still think we should just have a backup host.... just in case...

First we need to copy every single image on the forums.
...How?
I think Photobucket should work best; we can upload from a URL there.

Do you realize just how many images we are talking about here? With Photobucket we can upload them en masse, and without using our computers as storage in the meantime.

If you post the complete headers again, I might hack together a shell script that replaces all tinypic images with imgur ones... *edit* They work again:

Why not just get a defeault proboards skin. Mainly because I don't want to lag...
I don't really care if it looks bad with the precoded skin options. I want speed. Not looks.
This is, honestly, what keeps me from posting. My computer lags less when it doesn't have to load so many images...

It wasn't just the skin, it was most of the forum graphics. The current forum skin looks nice.

This is, honestly, what keeps me from posting. My computer lags less when it doesn't have to load so many images... Thats why I am running a custom skin for this forum. No ugly big ass pictures, no useless Javascript no crap. Loads about twice as fast for me. If you want, I can sum it up and release it. But right now, I'm loosing on some features I don't care about like dan-balls, custom stars and colored names and a few others. If you want them I can implement them, but that increases the render time a little bit...

A forum that looks good is more important to new members than an ugly Proboards default thing. Anyone that doesn't like it can go the greasemonkey route and add &NOHEADERS=1 to everything.
It isn't useless or ugly to people that actually care how the site looks. However, for those who do not care, there are options to allow them to experience the site at speed without ruining the people who do care's forum. Win-win.
Long story short, the skin's not going down because those who experience lag have options to stop it.

I think one possible option, one they might have intended, is to create a new skin. There is a skin displayed by default, but when there are multiple skins, individuals can choose which skin they personally view.
One problem with just "making a new skin" is that not everything is on the skin. For instance, the profile table design comes from the global H/F that Ggoodie and Chronologik originally made and I edited with permission. The tan background is from the H/F, not the skin. The graphic copyright bars are from the H/F, not the skin.
In short, although it might help, making a "bare" skin choice will not solve the speed problem because there are many things that complement the skin without being part of the skin. What we need is "conditional CSS."

That wouldn't work with the method of skin that we use. The bare skin choice would only change images and colors, not the codes that actually cause the lag. All we can do is a greasemonkey extension, which I believe Ganon has already made.

The skin is independent of the H/F, so it is not possible.

You didn't read my post, did you? I got the same feeling... But then I have the feeling qwerty just has to repeat every obvious statement... The skin is independent of the H/F, so it is not possible. Wouldn't it be dead simple to load a different H/F depending on what skin is loaded? H/F only loads JS, so why not just put a little JS there which does "if skin==main load bloat; else do nothing" (not real code, but you get the point)

So, I presume that my plan of action would be to give all skin-related elements a CSS class with a certain visibility property, and then either hide or show it depending on what skin is chosen?
I'll have to research what the variable name for the skins is...

Oy, Disabled, no blatant insults. I only repeat some obvious statements, not all of them. Besides, notice that my post was shorter and only covered the main points, thus making it easier to read for some people. Now what I have to ask is, did you read MY post?
Although, to be honest, I didn't actually read all his post when I posted. Still, that's no call for you to insult me like that. Why can't we just get along? It's like every thread I see you insulting me somehow.
