I'm sorry, but what was it like way back during the time of TheListo? Everything just seems so vague to me, I remember so little. And now I'm really starting to look at this pic, found in Paradox's sig. It just reminds me of two little kids (sorry Qwerty but your old avatar [the one of the little kid in a cape & crown] still has me picturing you as, like, 8) having fun, an unbreakable nonja bond. I know this makes me seem like like some pedophile art critic, but seriously, what were the old forums like?

Fun times. The forum wasn't a bad soap opera back then. I joined in May '08 (or earlier) and I must say that Listo was actually cool back then. Back when we believed in him...

Kool. Maybe in a few months to a year we can re-achive our non bad soap opera status once we finally get over the trauma, disorganization, and shock of the move.

Eh, we got over that awhile ago. There will always be conflict. If it doesn't exist, someone will create some. The only forums without conflict are dead forums and forums like Facepunch where you can be banned for just about anything down to and including "Because I said so".

Before the move, things were different.
I liked listo before the move. (namely because I haven't seen him since before the move. He seems to have dissipated from this community.) I often chatted with him on chat back then. Heh, I remember the good old skin we had before... and then the one even before that! Anyone has a screenshot from how the forum looked like back then? I don't have any, yet I remember it so clearly.
I remember last year April so clearly though. Things happened so fast. I actually thought the forum would die at a stage. (I also thought that we were actually going to move forums back then. XD)
Most of 2009 for me was blurred together. Nothing really important happened that year after April and most things seemed to be getting less and less alive. Fear of the forum dying was brought up a lot. Surprisingly after the move everything nearly quadrupled in activity and skyrocketed for weeks. It seems to have only gone up from there.

That's because Listo wanted us to move forums, but very few of us did.

Heh, I was sort of open to moving away from proboards, but because so many people didn't want to move and the community would literally be torn in half.... It didn't really work for me.
But I think we should rather dwell on thinking about the golden ages of the forum. I mean we are well into platinum now but back the the golden ages were epic. (and by golden ages I'm talking about the last 5 - 6 months of 2008 and the few months before April of 2009)
Rock, you would have really liked it back then.

Those golden ages? I guess our "golden ages" are different, mine are right between about when M4 came and when TSL came. -ish. It extends a bit past when M4 came.

M4 came july 2008. Which is why mine began when I joined the forum... (which seemed active) and ended just before the april fiasco. Although it seemed to have ended a bit before that for me. So our golden ages are similar, the only reason mine is a bit different is because I joined later than you.

Just finished looking through some of the back-up...wow.
So much and so little is different. I honest to god didn't realize this was a new forum until little over a week after I joined. I just...wow. Again, I remember so much...

Hehe, the backup is wonderful isn't it? What would we do without it...
Thank you disabled for making such a wonderful backup...
Didn't you read my forum history thread to find out about the forum history? That is jam packed full of information up until the move...

Back onto the topic, THAT THING WAS FREAKING HARD TO MAKE. Even with two of us we were in a room where anyone could move letters and everyone was stealing letters from everyone else. It was madness. MADNESS I TELL YOU.

Would've been July 22nd had it not been for me completely forgetting about the existence of the forums.

I loved that skin (for some reason, this one is so much better), but it isn't the original. We had a different background. But still, holy cow we looked different. I'm too used to this one. We should to a retro skin day or something. That's back from the Era of Security Issues, specifically during the Melted Metal incident and shortly pre-livetrack. In fact, that very thing was what triggered much of the Era of Security Issues. Personally, this was after the second 'Molopoy' incident, so I was under the disguise of "Superblah" at the time. We'd just added the  and and :lie: smileys, and the currently active debate thread was "The Future of Humanity". White Noise was still White Noise, and we still had a massively complex rank system that included a special rank for contest judges.

Wow, I just had a huge burst of history.
It all just came back to me, the old forum, the old days... wow, I remember them... We really should have a retro day.
I would love it to bits. Wow... Nostalgia FTW.

Wow, this skin really is better, much more organized and dynamic. And a retro day seems interesting. Oh, and the third smiley is broken.

We had the Proboards default then. Our main goal was looking like Dan-Ball, to match the Cardboard. We sorta succeeded, but looking like Dan-Ball doesn't work with the forum.

Yea... Although it still looked nice... sorta....
How about a retro week? (A day seems to short for me)

To the extent of my knowledge, having a Retrospective Day would involve commenting out major portions of the forum's H/F, not just changing values in the skin editor. Adding in other codes to recreate the old forum would then be quite tedious.
|
|
|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Nov 5, 2010 19:07:27 GMT
Yes it would. You'd have to remove all the codes Ggoodie has added for the skin and then just add a forum resizer code. Then you must change all the colors and images.
But with good planning it could go smoothly. Perhaps we could do it some time next year?

|
|
Post by Qwerty on Nov 6, 2010 7:20:28 GMT
I don't think we even had a forum re-sizer code. Plus the colors were all different, and the logo...

|
Post by ~Memzak~ on Nov 6, 2010 8:44:16 GMT
Yea, but from that image we have we could get the colors as I said in my post above.
And we DO have a forum resizer code, its just incorperated into the skin code. It isn't that hard at all to find a replacement one for the duration for the week. It will take a lot of plannign, but I think it will be cool and memorable.

Post by Rock on Nov 6, 2010 13:16:45 GMT
Yeah, definitely, but do we even still have the codes for the old forums?
