With the trading system for threads, we need a post crafting system. To craft, you must mine certain ores that apply to the thread.
Bronze Ore: Games
Silver Ore: General Talk
Runic Ore: Everything else
It takes 1 day to mine 5 bronze ore. 20 silver ore are needed to make a general talk thread, and 10 bronze ore are needed to make a games thread. It takes one week to make 1 runic ore, and you need 30 to make a thread.
Another option is to make weapons with this ore, the choices are a bow, a sword, or a hammer. With these weapons you can control a thread by attacking the thread's poster. We then use Veer's calculator to calculate who will win, and then the winner keeps the thread. This will help with activity, obviously.
If someone controls 5 threads they will get 1 extra runic ore every day and have a small chance to get platinum ore. With one platinum ore you can craft the firing stick, which will give you the power to fire any staff member you want. After the staff member is fired you can take their job and maybe even become king of the forums. If you have this power you get 3 runic ore a day and you must constantly be fighting resistance.
This idea is a work in progress I will update later.

The idea seems interesting, but assuming we do approve the overarching idea, I think it would be infinitely better if your received ores from creating threads rather than having to pay ores to make threads. First of all, the latter method would discourage people from posting. Second of all, it would be virtually and physically impossible to enforce the "no posting without proper ore" rules.
Concerning thread control, it is physically impossible to change who was the creator of a thread, except by deleting the first post. Not only would doing that result in potential loss of information, subsequent control would be inherently determined by a FIFO (First-In, First-Out) queue (i.e. whoever posted immediately after the deleted post would be the first post).
Concerning the staff, please excuse my reasonable bias as I flatly reject your platinum ore idea. You may indicate how a staff member fails to meet their responsibilities, and convince the other staff to fire him/her. Even concerning the "become king of the forums" part, that would require either another forum revolt or me giving my password to whoever would become "king of the forums."

I've seen something similar on roleplaying forums before, where each day you get money to make a certain number of In Character posts.
But it is clear that such a system is not right for here.

I agree, this just isn't practical. First of all, the first two paragraphs of the first post of this thread are too complicated, too cumbersome, and honestly seem pointless to me. The third paragraph is just complete insanity.
