Request to combine the generalboard subboards of story, art, and put a design in there (programming). Then making it it's own board.

By all means I'm all for it, I'm just waiting for confirmation by Veers or VIROS.

Alright, since all of those boards aren't generally very active, it shouldn't be too problematic combining them...

Well?

I was wondering if anyone else wanted to throw in their opinions. After all, it's the forum in general that uses those boards, not just the Triumvirate...

Seems like a good idea to me.

Not a problem. I think it'd be better off that way.

Alright, I guess it's safe to go on with combining the boards...

That's what I did: I combined Story, Art, and a new Programming aspect, and made that combination its own board. If that's not what you meant, then I'm afraid I'm having difficulty understanding what you meant. What did you mean?

I think he meant put it on the home page with the important boards.

When I was first discussing this to tempy, we were discussing fusing these boards, story, art, any designer boards (including coding and graphics arts) and making it it's own board. Not a sub board.
I justify this because each board itself is only active enough to be a sub board. If we combine two or three it would be more active than some boards we already have, and it seems to fit in the general category.

Well, my question is this: would it indeed be more active than some boards we already have? Also, none of the sub-boards had subjects that made them sub-boards of the General Talk board, and it seems to me that Creative Works is a subset of General Talk and should hence be kept inside General Talk...

Perhaps topics like "General Talk" are too vague and stifle change...

That is why General Talk is a board full of sub-boards. We can't divide every possible potential discussion topic into a board, so we have general talk to stuff the rest into.

Yes, but when we put 3 sub boards together I don't think it should belong inthe same board. It's much more general than THAT. And would obviously get more activity.

The sub-boards combined were small enough that the combination still seems smaller (I have yet to verify) than the Forum Games sub-board. If a combination of sub-boards is still smaller than any one sub-board, then the combination of sub-boards should itself remain a sub-board...

That is a bit unfair, considering Forum Games is arguably the most active board on the site.

i don't really understand why omnl is so gay about this matter, it's not like this forum can actually design anything. IMO i liked it better when it was two boards, less cluttered that way.

That is a bit unfair, considering Forum Games is arguably the most active board on the site. Fair enough, but what about the Serious Debate Board? Although the Serious Debate board has less threads, it has more posts than the combination of Art, Stories, and Programming...

It doesn't matter that much about the total amount of posts. It's about the current state of activity in said board.
