Together we would rise, To stave off death's shaded gate. A steely glint within our eyes, Fighting for our state.
We waged the war with tooth and nail, Blood had soaked the sand. And as we stood upon that beach, The shells began to land.
We made it through that bloodshod day, As we survived to tell. With our shots we made them pay, For all before that fell.
Look at us now, Now years have passed us by. We stoop like an everlasting bow, It almost makes you cry.
Age is now the enemy, It respects not even heroes. Youth given to war's futility. We remember in our dying throes.
