'Sup! Well, I made a new avatar. Tell me what you think! While you're at it... Which Avatar looks better? Headphones. The Big L.

You know, from seeing all the stuff wrong with the L including noise, bad contrast, etc., I have a hard time believing you even made the headphone thing... But I still vote the headphone thing even though I'm doubting you made it.

The L looks HIDEOUS. I'm voting the headphones, because I fully agree with mdog.

www.tineye.com/search/e391536b8e87ed3c6256b752ea84cb8f735aa140/?pluginver=firefox-1.1Granted, that doesn't mean it isn't on the Internet anywhere (otherwise it would at the very least have pointed to the Dan-Ball Forum), but it's a better sign than a definite link to somewhere else. Anyhow, the headphones not only look more polished (literally and figuratively) than the "L," but the headphones also look like Wheatley from a distance...

The L is overshined, I'm going with the headphones.

... I'm just saying that making something on GIMP doesn't take nearly as much time and skill as it does to make something of equal quality with pixel art...

Yes it does, if you do it right. Things don't just magically appear and look amazing, you know.
And I think you were going for this effect?

Okay, maybe not skill, but definitely time and quantity...

L = Glossy filter effect on an annoying type of font.
Based on the evaluation of your 'L' I find it difficult to believe you actually created those headphones from scratch. The background appears off when put behind the chrome texture, and there is too much anti-aliasing. There is too much contrast between the chrome and the center of the picture, and the line across the piece is odd.
In less critical terms: Good start, assuming you were experimenting. The headphones are definitely the better of the two.

He made these using tutorials, I believe. It is a good thing to do such, great way to learn, in my opinion. It is just to be careful to make sure that if a design relied heavily on something you learned on a tutorial, it is nice to cite the source, I think.
