This is quite a hot topic between the 2 types, and I wanted to see who would get majority on these forums.

May I ask where linux's representation is in this poll?

It is Macintosh vs. Windows... I.e. no Linux.

PC, I don't use a macintosh, lthough it would be interesting to see laptops vs pc vs macintosh or just macintosh vs laptop. But yeah pc for the worst reason, I tried a mac but it just didn't feel like it was part of me, if you know what I mean, like knowing where everything is.

I would choose the third door rather than the two options in this poll for political, economic, and practical reasons. If I had to choose between these two individual things, I would say that I need to learn more about Macintosh computers before making an informed decision...

I could go on to preach about how linux is one of the three and should be counted in the poll and how getting rid of it is like saying you can vote for any country in the EU except Poland... but I really don't feel like putting in the effort and so will as you a question instead.
Mac vs PC in what aspect? Productivity? Affordability? or Quality?(of the OS's programming itself)

Well, from my experience with both types of computers, Macs are good for sound, picture, and video editing. PCs are good for that and everything else. Also, a good PC capable of high stress gaming costs about the same as a standard iMac. And those aren't too great for gaming.

What macs do well they're good at, but a PC has the potential to be better. That being said, I think the PC is better because of its potential.

Do you have any solid reasons for Mac being better than Windows?

My main reason is compatibility. Mac is far too limited in potential software, not to mention modifications to the OS itself. Oh, and price.

K, fair enough, you know my poor reason, so what is everybody else's?

Gaming, PC is my primary system, (I say PC meaning Windows.) I dare you to find me 10 AAA titles that run on Mac (exaggeration).

Well... seeing no answer to my question and judging by the general responses I'll have to guess it's a cumulation of all things I think about the two OS's.
Mac: + Very Speedy and Stable at what it does. - VERY limited modifications, controlled environment, primary reason for ^. - Very pricey, milking money out of every patent. Opinion: I personally do not like the brand or the company. The computers themselves are very stable, but pricey and have a very controlled environment. I am also not a fan of the companies patent squabbling/milking and overpricing for 'innovative ideas'. Innovation should not come at a premium price just because it is 'innovative'. If profits are to be made from innovation, it should be made from the fact that if it is truly innovative then people would want to buy it instead of its competitors. Then again, I'm not going to lecture apple on business strategies because they seem to be doing very well as it is. I would have had it done differently, but I guess that is where apple and I differ.
Windows: +Lots of Software available, including games. +Gives you a little more freedom in modifications. (at least hardware wise) -Due to being so popular has many people targeting them for malicious purposes. (leading to more windows exploits and viruses) Opinions: Windows, to me, is a standard. It is what the majority of the world use today and therefore has the largest audience. (which in turn inspires other companies to make software for it, due to most people using it) This leads to a high amount of software that can be obtained on windows. The most noticeable category this has an advantage in is the gaming sector. Due to being such a widely used OS there is also a large amount of crackers looking for exploits / developing malicious programs to exploit computers running windows. As for the OS itself, I'll admit it does have a plethora of useless features that do nothing but hog memory and the code could be written better... I also like the company marginally more than apple for the sole reason that they don't sell 'Windows' Computers. They develop the operating system and allow you to pick your computer from any other brand and/or build your own.
With my opinions given, I'd have to pick windows over mac.

Hey, where's linux? They develop the operating system and allow you to pick your computer from any other brand and/or build your own. Very Speedy and Stable at what it does. Gives you a LOT more freedom in modifications

The debate is Macintosh vs. Windows. There is no Linux in this discussion, I predict that if the thread would have been titled "Linux vs. Windows", no one would have even mentioned Macintosh (save Rock).
The thread is Macintosh vs. Windows, stop whining about Linux because this is not about Linux. It's not about the "Big Three" either. It is about Macintosh and Windows.

Well said. I mean, I think this puts up avery big point, what would you buy given the choice and after looking through the posts, I still stand by windows, but now understand macs abit better.
