Choice F makes sure that all ions, proteins, etc. are where they need to be when needed and they won't diffuse in other areas of the cell.

actually, there's another more subtle reason to choose "f". and it opens up lots of... interesting possibilities. And I realized that my description of cilia implied that they slow you down. they won't. Winners: Enhance Flagella Eat: Unsuccessful Stats: single-celled creature. Active digestion (It can eat medium-sized particles that float near its mouth). Able to move quickly, but not very maneuverable. Aware of light level and direction, favors light. Aware of chemicals. Population: 2 Average well-being: 10/10 Average energy: 4/5 Environment: bright light NW, moderate non-harmful chemical "scent" New Choices: A) Develop cilia (good directional control) B) Enhance Flagella again (MOAR FASTER!) C) Enhance Chemical Sensor (will be able to tell chemical direction) D) Enhance Chemical Sensor (will be able to distinguish better between chemicals) E) Develop vibration-sensitive organ F) Develop proteins in the phospholipid bilayer (you need to know biology to get the significance of this ) G) Develop primitive photosynthesis H) Develop poison I) Enhance digestive system (be able to digest more complex particles) J) Develop water-pumping system 1) Do nothing 2) Reproduce 3) Eat (success not guaranteed) 4) Move (Define direction)

Come on, some poison's going to be badass. Somebody should also vote cilia for better speed control

DFG2 I like the sound of a water pumping system, but I don't think the cell is ready for some thing of that kind.

We don't really want a creature that can run super fast and can't turn, do we? We need some steering! Although speed is nice...

I promise pics as soon as I get home. though they will be MSPaint. I'm open to suggestions for choices. ObG, unfortunately, I don't think our cell is ready for spikes, nor do I think they'd be an efficient weapon at that size.
Winners: Develop proteins in the phospholipid bilayer Reproduce
Stats: single-celled creature. Active digestion (It can eat medium-sized particles that float near its mouth). Able to move quickly, but not very maneuverable. Aware of light level and direction, favors light. Aware of chemicals. Contains protines in bilayer. Population: 4 Average well-being: 10/10 Average energy: 3/5
Environment: Harsh light NW, moderate non-harmful chemical "scent"
New Choices: A) Develop cilia (good directional control) B) Enhance Flagella again (MOAR FASTER!) C) Enhance Chemical Sensor (will be able to tell chemical direction) D) Enhance Chemical Sensor (will be able to distinguish better between chemicals) E) Develop vibration-sensitive organ F) Develop protein patterns in bilayer (first step to being MULTI-CELLULAR!) G) Develop primitive photosynthesis H) Develop poison I) Enhance digestive system (be able to digest more complex particles) J) Develop water-pumping system
1) Do nothing 2) Reproduce 3) Eat (success not guaranteed) 4) Move (Define direction)

With Primitive Photosynthesis, the creature/we would gain to harness the abundant energy from light!

Let's use the time in between changes to discuss what we shall do with the creature! I propose that once we develop primitive photosynthesis, we should make photosynthesis more efficient (either in the single-cell stage, or when we are multi-cellular, we need photosynthesis, it's so useful!).
Or we could also develop the vibration-sensitive organelle once(/if?) we reach multi-cellular stage to detect other lifeforms around us (the lifeforms would move around us thus producing vibrations in the medium)?
