date and time, next time, please?
also, do I take it that you consent to being banned if you behave similarly toward others?

Yes, I will write the codes for you whenever you want. Our triumvirate (or whoever's updating the headers) seems to have trouble with the javascripts, don't worry, your users can helb you!

Have you considered actually compressing each of the categories with Javascript? You could make the category bar a bit taller, and more visually appealing, and then clicking the category would make all the boards appear below it. Clicking the category bar again would make the boards disappear again. A simple downwards-pointing button-arrow thing would make it intuitive that users should click these things. If none of the admins can do this, I can write the codes for you, and all you have to do is put them in the Headers.

not restricting the language, just the voter. If all OOP-knowledgeable programmers like haskell, haskell can still win. However, you bring up a valid point. OOP, while strong concept, isn't the only important type of programming. What I was trying to address is the fact that some people will make a 4-function calculator in C++ (the only language they "know"), and then vote C++. Basically, I submit that C++ is not as popular among actual programmers as this poll would indicate.

if you restricted this poll to only include the votes of people who can create non-trival object-oriented programs, the results wouldn't be so inbalanced.

Third shit report up. I've been dealing with school, just like GV. I hope my ~~numerous~~ fans don't disappoint too hard. Old shit review • Last week's shit report managed to rustle up at total of... TWO more posts in the "gay retard kill urself" thread. One was agreement that repeat trolls need harsher consequences. Another was agreement that forum rules should be stricter than chat rules. However, as for implementation int the forum rules: nothing. The point of the thread isn't for people to simply talk about new rule ideas; it's to get those ideas agreed upon, and acted upon. Right now we've got some little agreement, but not much activity at all. Basically, if certain people cared enough to CREATE the thread, I'd image they'd at least try to contribute to it...
• We have three active admins, now. I think it's time to discuss KuraiKiba. I understand that GV is likely not to change his viewpoint, but If 2/3 of the triumvirate agree that he shouldn't be perma-banned, then I hope GV doesn't continue with the banning. Whatever the admins decide, I'd like to see it in writing as a thread, so that we have a post to point to and say, "see? This is what our forum has decided to do about KK7."
• The triumvirate is fixed! Congratulations, FoxtrotZero, for getting the place. FoxtrotZero has promised to be even more active than before, and to be less biased (bias is one of the main points of Fox's opposition). The Shit Report looks forward to watching Fox's contributions to the forum.
New Topics This week's shits both revolve around banning procedures.
First up: "Zero Tolerance Policies" need to be nerfed. Zero Tolerance Policies basically say "you're not banned, but if you break one more rule, no matter how small, you'll be perma-banned." Under a ZTP, someone could be permabanned for using Cambria Math once, or mildly trolling a member. The argument is that the person has committed previous felonies that would add justification to the ZTP permaban. Well, sirs, The Shit Report believes that a person's rule-breaking should be punished immediately, or not at all. Giving admins the power to stockpile charges against someone, and then to release them in a permaban just isn't right. Another issue with ZTP is it's length. Currently, ZTPs are unlimited. Someone (like KK7) could be chatting under a ZTP that was enacted a year ago! If everyone on this forum had a ZTP, we'd all be banned. How is it fair that some users live under them for actions they did in the past?
The ZTP system leads me to Permabans. Permabans in the forum rules are only referenced to pornography and illegal activity. This is good. Permabans are serious business. Permabans say "I don't care how much more mature you've grown, or how you've changed, you have committed an unforgivable crime, and will never deserve to be on our forum." That's not something you say to a troll, or to a retard. Any permaban that doesn't meet one of the criteria defined in the forum rules is technically incorrect, and ethically wrong, too.
In Closing Our chat and forum rules are great documents that outline how we ban people. Things like ZTP and Permabans-for-trolling are not in our rules, and they shouldn't be enacted unless added to the rules. Last week's shit report helped to fix some problems, but Others are still very unresolved. So, without further ado:
How to fix shit • I'm making a thread in the ban board to help move this process along. Unless our forum powers believe that "gay", "retard", "kill urself", and things like that should be 100% allowable all the time, they had better contribute. • The admins need to come to a conclusion about KK7 and GV's power abuse in general. They need to post this conclusion in a thread for the rest of the forum to see. Transparency, people, transparency! • Remove all ZTPs from anyone, and then decide whether or not you want ZTP to be an actual rule. • Remove all Permabans from any user who hasn't posted pornography or illegal activity. Then be more conservative about this powerful tool.
tl;dr: - chat mods give more fucks, but still not enough - no one's fixed GV's power abuse yet. - YAY! Working triumvirate! - ZTP: You can be perma-banned for trolling! - Permabans: They're SUPPOSED to be for pornography and illegal stuff only.

New Shit Report. Happily, there's not much to report! For the moment little news is close-to-okay news. Here's the First report, for the record. Our first shit: There's a thread in the chat ban board about what we should do about people who post (in chat, forum, or even profile info) things like "ur gay" and "kill urself." Since it's a password-protected board, I can't give you guys the whole content, but I can give you my post on the matter. iza's opinion on this shit - (Click to Reveal)
"Gay" has been a tough cookie to handle on this forum. Some people (like me) define "Gay" in their personal vocabulary as "Stupid." "This idea is gay", "This song is gay", etc. are statements that, though politically incorrect, aren't meant to hurt other people's feelings and (in my opinion) aren't in poor taste. I think that it might be possible to pull off a rule that says we're not allowed to call people gay. When Person A is called gay by Person B, then Person A has the right to ask a mod for Person B's ban. (with screenshots if the mod wasn't present). "I didn't know he didn't want to be called 'gay'" will not be an acceptable excuse. It will be Person B's responsibility to find out how Person A feels about the name. Also, Person A must report this incident within 3 days of its occurance. I don't want some hypocrite who really doesn't care to just stockpile screenies of everyone calling him gay, and then having the power to ban people at will, 6 months later. "Retard" and "retarded" are really just exaggerative extensions of the world "stupid." I think that The same rule can apply to these words as I suggested for "gay."
"kill urself" (and variants of it), I think, should never be tolerated. The reason I've decided that "kill urself" is different from "gay" and "retard" is because "kill urself" is a much more direct command. People call each other stupid all the time (remember that gay and retard are synonyms to stupid, in many cases), but it's in very bad taste to tell someone to suicide.
These suggestions all stem, of course, from my opinion about what's best for Chat, and as human opinions, they may be biased. I believe the purposes of chat rules are: 1) to prohibit illegal behavior 2) to protect reasonable users from being offended 3) to promote a community of free speech and exchange of ideas, where this doesn't violate the previous two purposes.
Note that I believe the rules should be catered to "reasonable" users. That's horridly subjective, yet I believe paradoxically that subjectivity is the only way to keep the rules from being exploitable. As long as chat mod selection is careful to not choose weak individuals who will taint the law with their own feelings and bias, the subjectivity is a good thing. I tried, once, to make a completely objective rule system for chat. It doesn't work. There are always too many loopholes. I believe that the chat moderators have the responsibility to define "reasonable" to the best of their abilities. As conflicts arise about this definition, we can draw from the power of democracy and vote on borderline issues.
tl;dr: "retard" and "urgay" are bannable if it's offending someone. "kill urself" just isn't allowed. My thoughts on what the purpose of chat rules is.
Remember, that shit's just my opinion. So, six days after that's been posted, what's been the response? Nothing. This shit's been making drama all over the forum and I've got a proposed solution, and nobody, not even the triumvirate, seems to care. I think chat mods need to get off their asses and at least try and contribute to fixing chat.
Next up: KuraiKiba logged in a couple days ago. Most of you probably remember the shitstorm he created a year ago by being the most retarded person to use the forum. KK came on chat and asked if he could be un-banned. General stuff about how he'd changed and shit. GV immediately banned KK7. So, what's going on here? Well, KK7 isn't officially banned on chat or forum. No permaban was ever issued. Whenever GV sees KK, though, he bans on sight. Usually KK gets on chat through proxy as anon, so when other chat mods see an anon banned with no ban report, they unban it. Regardless of whether or not KK7's changed, there's a shit-ton of problems with what's happening. First of all, GV is banning KK without due process. He believes that the forum's desicion to not perma KK was ill-advised, and so he thinks he can just override our decision. The triumvirate (Qwerty, Veers, and VIROS) hasn't decided to do this; Veers decided to make up his own unofficial perma-ban. Veers told me that Qwerty currently disagrees with him and VIROS is too inactive to have input on this. Since when did a 1/3 minority become the law? This is a simple case of power abuse. Veers will ban KK7 whenever he wants for whatever he wants regardless of what we, the users, and more critically, the rest of the triumvirate think!
Moving on: The triumvirate: What the Belgium!? GV and Qwerty are both active members, contributing well to both the forum and to chat. But VIROS... He last logged in over two weeks ago. That's pretty bad for a chat mod, but remember he's a forum admin When was his last post on the forum? December 6th. That's inactive as hell! But besides the pathetic statistics, is GV's own evaluation that VIROS isn't active enough to participate in a triumvirate decision! Pr0tip: if a triumvir can't do his job, then he shouldn't be a triumvir. VIROS's position needs to be replaced with someone who is active on chat AND forum and is a responsible person. Can't we find one non-admin among our userbase that fits that criteria? Answer: Like hell, we can. I can think of 5 people off the top of my head that would be just fine as admins.
Closing up: There's shit in this forum, and I'm not the only one to see it. Yet, even when the most powerful people on the forum see the shit that goes on, they do nothing about it! What the hell kind of admins just let a forum sit around in its own shit, not trying to do anything about it? If they really care about what's best of the forum, they'll get off their butts and do shit. Oh, are they not creative enough to think of answers? Well here's an answer to each shit I've mentioned today: How to fix shit - (Click to Reveal)
1) I already made a well-thought-out suggestion for a rule to fix the problems we see most on chat. Chatmods should: contribute to discussions about fixing chat. 2)This is easier than reading English. GV needs to stop holding his shit grudge against KK and follow due process about that member. It's disgusting to see such blatant power abuse go unchecked. 3)Get a new admin. Either choose one yourself (Qwert and Veers just agree on one person to join them) or have the rest of the forum members choose one in a poll.
* As I was typing this post, I successfully convinced two chat mods to post in the thread about insults. You're awesome, Foxtrot and NSR!
tl;dr: - Chat mods don't give enough fucks (except Fox and NSR!) - GV is blatantly using power abuse just to feed his own grudge - VIROS is a shitty admin and noone's doing shit about it.

The Weekly Shit Report ( updated almost every Saturday since 4/7/2012 )
Hey there! You're reading a weekly report on the shit that goes on in this forum.
What's been going on So, as all... two... of the Shit Report's fans noticed, I didn't make a shit report last week. Basically, I had a lot of work to do, making a shit game for my shit CS class. Of course that was just after I rustled up a mini-shit-storm from GV. Today's shit report's gonna focus mostly on that.
D'fuq u talkin bout, niga? For those who didn't know what happened, my last report (lower in the thread) focused mostly on GV's descision to permaban KK7 without due process. GV made a long reply, showing his thoughts on a lot of the material, and finally taking a haitus for a short time. While he was gone, for the most part, I was gone too. He came back, explained that while he did leave as a response to the Shit Report, he was also gone because he was busy. While he was gone, there was a mini-shit storm because many of us though he could be gone for good. People were even prepping to make another forum if GV didn't come back.
What does this mean? GV is very important to our forum. He's kinda like an anchor for us. In all our dramatic, shit-ridden existance, everyone almost always agrees that GV is the boss, because he should be. Sure that sounds anti-triumvirate, but it's true. GV is always the important one, the older one, the more mature one. We aprove of GV more than any other triumvir, and we don't want to see him leave.
A disclaimer So here's the point of this whole shit: The shit report isn't me, it isn't nmagane, it isn't anyone on the forum, to my knowledge. The Shit Report has only two purposes: → To inform users of what's going on around the forum, especially in the staff world → To get shit done. The second purpose is the one that fuels the shit report's style of prose. The shit report is kind of a rough approximation of my ideas, but in a much more inflammatory and loose-cannon form. The shit report will jump to conclusions. The shit report will use circumstantial evidence to back strong claims. The shit report does this shit because it's really the only way to get stuff done. If this report comes across too harshly, don't hesitate to take it with a grain of salt. We're not here to be logical or fair. Balls to it!
A special note to GV I've read your post multiple times, and each time I read it, I have the same mixed feelings. Everything went both completely as intended and also in many unintended ways. Your post showed me, and anyone else who read it, what's really going on in your mind. It showed your opinions on these things. This expression is what I was going for. Even saying that you don't know what to really do gave a bit more clarity to the situation. I think that you should continue to express your thoughts and ideas like this. I learned from your post. I learned what you think about these issues, and now have one more case sample of what the whole forum thinks. Regarding the comment that you may not be a very good administrator: AWAY WITH THAT THOUGHT! You are, in my opinion, and probably others, the best triumvir in our forum. Your love of logic, truth, and fairness; your care for the forum and what becomes of it; your activity and devotion to the forum; and your cool, level-headed maturity is what the forum needs in the administration. Although the KK7 issue may have been your only personal decision, and it did turn out pretty sour, this doesn't mean you're incapable of helping to govern us. The triumvirate relies on all three members. They rely on you as you rely on them. The due process of the triumvirate allows them to build on each other's strengths, and you have great strengths to contribute. I'm sorry if this note seems confused and unorganized; I'm a little tired and sick, and I'm not best with words. But GV, just know that you are both wanted and needed as administrator for this forum.
tl;dr: - GV took a break, but he's back. the Shit Report might have contributed to the break. - GV is best administrator. We need him. - GV pls

I find this April Fools Joke lacking in subtlety, originality, and believability. At no point will anyone be able to say "Haha! April fools! we got you!" The object of the fool isn't even here, nor did he give his consent (to my knowledge). The MLP board was a good one, because it's a little bit believable, and if someone didn't think about April fools, they'd probably be "gotten". The Priok SLP stuff is just dumb. Everybody knows these things about priok anyway, and I don't think many funny things are happening.
tl;dr: I am disappoint.

Note: absolutely nothing in this thread incriminates nmagane. In fact, I see nothing but trying to slander nmagane "and his gang." I don't think this is really a productive thread, and I suggest a lock.

Hey hey hey... This thread has too much tension. Please, tone it down, I am unsettled by this sarcasm.

I gave my opinion after a large amount of people had given theirs. You knew perfectly well what talking about that would mean, and everyone present on chat agreed with my on a brief man. That's Modnary, Mono, Anon, and ThcListo to name a few. You were intentionally trying to provoke an emotional reaction, so I intervened. Besides, you were unbanned soon after. Anyway, to clarify. The argument was over whether or not Tekkit is a multiplayer version of technik pack from my perspective and his was apparently entirely different. I admit I can be wrong, but in that case (at least from what I was arguing about) I was not. You don't seem to know what trolling is. It's attempting to bring up an emotional (typically angry) response from someone. I was merely attempting to end it, asking you not to discuss it. If my asking you to avoid the topic was trolling, sorry, but do NOT bring it up again. tl;dr: It was nothing like that and I have witnesses to back me up on that. Wat? why is my name here? I am so confuse! Ples, I do not want any troubles!
